Well a friend of mine has an 89 civic hatch and he just finished putting a turbo on his car. He told me that he is running 8 pounds and just put down 170 hp and 162 tq. I figured it would be a good race considering the weight of his car. We went from a 30mph roll and we were even through 2nd but once i got into third i just started to pull away. We had to slow down because of traffic but a good run none the least. well just telling my story thanks

Tell him to chage the belt on the camshaft, the vtec will spool faster.............. I bet you then he might give you a run for your money!

kid was in a 5.0 and we where in my buds supra. and he saw the fpr and goes hmm nawz. we go yeah then he goes saying how itss tt? and the turbo is right there. and how is carburater p.o.s had some fuel management system..lol
o yeah he also said he had a 96tt factory f&f orange with a seat in the middle. and he gave it to his grandma...lmfao~

170hp on a turbo civic? i thought they would have more than that i mean my friends b18 hatch is stock and puts out 166hp to the wheels.
PRpimp, u sure it was non v-tec (like the integra LS motor) or it was SOHC v-tec like the d16y motor that should have come in those cars? if it is the d16y, tell him he should get a v-tec controler and have it kick in around 5500rpm and get a good tune. then he will be nice and good

your friend probably has a GSR motor and if i remember correctly it should have around 180-185 FWHP from the factory whereas the d16y is probably around 120FWHPSupra Sound said:

foreverpsycotic, d16y didn't come out until the 96 civics. The d16y8 was the vtec and the d16y7 was the non vtec. The motors that came in that year civics were either a d16a6(in civic si or crx si, civic ex) or the d15(civic dx, lx) which sux real bad. Also, how in the world are you going to get 180 or more fwhp out of a motor that doesn't even put that much out at the crank from the factory? I just had to clear that up.
