Yup, 57 trim in my opinion! Great power, and pretty decent reliability!

You could also go for the 60-1 but then reliability begins to be a factor!

Mid 400's have been reached a couple times. JBL put out 440 WHP (5Spd)& Matt Talbert hit 450 WHP(Lev10 Auto) with the Supra Dave Moskowits (sp) built/sold him. Matt had 5 or 6 MK3's at the time. :naughty: I stated ~350 because that is more common.

JBL had a 60-1 upgrade.
57 trim is smaller. I do know that ray(polobai) made 422 on his 57 trim.

Yea but what I remember & respect the most about that run of Johns is he was running a Lex AFM, stock 440 inj. stock IC with PVC pipes & 9:1 CR

Yea, sorry I didn't name him. I think Nick T (not gonna try to spell his last name) in Aus made ~400 with a 57trim uncliped.

Needless to say 350WHP area is much more common. I just don't see that being a conservative #. Actually a very realistic # to expect. I know that Dave M. put lots of time & money Dyno tuning & JBL devoted alot of time as well. I'm talking 100's of hours.

I think u guys missed the point i was trying to making. Alot of people put racing fuel in their cars, then up the boost (which on pump gas would detonate and pretty much blow their motor) and then dyno .... which to me is a false sense of security since alot of people wont have c16 or whatever in their car and they hear "ohh 400rwhp with a 57 trim ct26 is sooo easy". My question was asking if these 400+ rwhp ct26 upgraded cars.... were they on pump gas or racing fuel when they went and dynoed their cars????

Alot people dont understand that alot of these cars use racing fuel when they dyno, so that they can get the highest number possible and when they try to copy the path they can never figure out why they cant get 430rwhp out of their ct26 upgrade ...... So i was aiming to give others a bit of heads up. Using racing fuel allows you to get to higher hp using the same setup.

Correct me if i am wrong

MDCMotorsports does have a section here that you can post in. Jon would be more than happy to answer any and all upgrade-related questions you have.

FWIW, my 2psi is geared towards the 57trim due to the smaller size of it. You'll make close to the power you're gearing towards, but not 500whp.
If you're really aiming for 500whp, pick up a t4 flanged tubular mani off ebay for <$200 shipped, then talk to MDC or jtamulis and see what they suggest.

My response is something that is expected at SupraForums but not here on SM, so my post was deleted.
That really wasnt needed, was it? I think if you cant answer the guys question, then just dont answer at all... He didnt ask what the biggest turbo in the world was, he asked what would be a good upgrade for a CT... Right? And look at everyone else's responses... See how YOURS just didnt fit in? See why I deleted it? Mmmm Kay thanks...

Jake

BTW: I had a 60-1 with a 10* clip on the exhaust wheel, made 330rwhp through an auto tranny with only 16psi, it was fun... But the turbo I bought was used, and of course, the guy said it was in great shape, well, it took a dump on me after about 300miles... So I think with a freshly built 60-1 I would've got more hp @16psi... Oh, and I found out I dyno'd with a bhg... And that was on pump gas and a conservative tune too, I didnt wanna destroy my tranny...

Bountykilla: you can get 400hp out of a 60-1 on pump gas easily, especially with a 5sp... Its all in the tune...

CT26+60-1 upgrade, 550cc RC injectors, walbro pump, Lexus afm= 400+hp to the wheels, on pump...

Not 100% sure. I was there & filmed Matt Talberts run. I think he was running a mixture of 93 & 110 race. He did the run on 22psi & normaly ran 17-18 on the streett daily. As for JBL I would bet he was running 93. He always tuned to run his Supra on the street & back rd twistys. I have no idea what Nick or Ray ran.

True for some but I wouldn't say alot. Most of Those with a CT upgrade tune for the street using prem. fuel.

Higher HP is created through aggressive well thought out tunning. Race gas with its higher octain slower burn rate just adds a margen of saftey. It is a must on some applications but depends on the mods, tuning, & desired goal varables.

Also dbsupra90 (Dave) IN the Misc. Vender section. He is to Turbo Tech., Application & tuning that Albert Einstein is to quantum physics. :icon_bigg

Yeah, when I tuned my CT26 it was for pump gas... You really dont need to look at race fuel until you go over 20psi... That's just a good rule of thumb really... Even though it doesnt always apply, and your motor should be able to tell your tuner what it wants... On my last set up, I ran 21psi on pump gas, and it was fine, no knock, no detonation... But when I went to 23psi, I put 104 in... Generally speaking, you arent going to ever need race fuel for a CT26 set up... Seriously, who does that? :icon_razz Maybe wanna get nutty one day and do it, but not on a regular basis...
