I thought MAP ECU is low cost compared to a VPC. I know VPC is an Ebay item now though.

a map ecu is 650, a vpc is around 400-450 and i was planning on getting a safc or safr with it which would have been at least 300 more, the MAFT is probably the cheapest its around 600 with all the options includding a boost control soleniod

i've noticed alot of big power guys tthat use piggy backs generally go for a vpc safc type combo, haven't seen a whole lot of setups with the MAFT pro, is there some reason for that or can u still make 500+ with the MAFT, also can u adjust spark timing with the maft pro

there is some sort of spark control now with the maft pro,

i have yet to snip the ristor to even check timming. let alone hook up the rest of the wires for the timming control..

the maft pro i a nice unit, the reason's i got it were

1 it got ride of the nappy lookin afm..
2 it controll's fuel. (i was gona have to do this one way or another)
3 it had a fairly cheap ebc that was plug n play..

if i ever find this unit just doesn' do enough for me, then i will go full standalone.

Trent was using the MAP ECU http://7mpower.com/trent_johnson.shtml
I have a MAP ECU but haven't installed it yet. My car is still down and awaits rebuild, so it might be a while before I use it. It's seems like alot of members here really like the MAFT pro. Hell, I haven't even used my MAP ECU and wish I went with the maft pro. But I'm sure the map ecu will do plenty for me. Another good thing about maft pro is at least you know you'll have some support from the many members here on supramania.com that currently run it.

BTW, $650 for a map ecu??? Where? I guess you missed the group buy they had on here a few months ago. I believe it was $385 plus shipping. At least that's how much I paid for mine.

Are you talking about this MAP ECU??? http://www.performancemotorresearch.co.nz/

i think the distinct advantage of the maft-pro over the map-ecu is user friendliness.... i've heard of people having nightmares trying to tune a map ecu

Yeah, the map-ecu can be had for very cheap now. But I can only think of one 7M owner who has used it succesfully and he blew his engine.

The MAFT-PRO seems to have much better support and the new timing fuctions. But I've heard some other guys with different cars had it and got rid of it right away and chose a different piggyback. So I'm still waiting to see more user feedback on it.
