Am deciding between going with either setup. I just wanted to see if anyone had experience with both setups and which one is better.

-HKS VPC + SAFC:

price: I could get both used for about $450.

Features: Map based, ease of use and installation.

-Map ecu:

price: $400 brand new + $80 for the wideband sensor.

Features: Map based, ease of installation and data logging.

Am leaning towards the map ecu because of the data logging and the ability to fine tune it. Also, the map ecu would be brand new as oppose to the vpc + SAFC which are going to be used.

Any help would be appreciated.

look at maft pro too... people seem to be having alot of success with it... get the kit for somewhere in the 500 range... alot of tunability and control with that unit.

would you be able to data log or control ignition with the maft pro?

among other things. the MAFT pro offers things neither of your other 2 combos offer: REAL timing monitor, ability to control timing (w/applicable harness), closed loop AFR tracking w/a WB and boost control, should you desire. not to mention more support and it is user upgradeable.

am going to be researching a little more on the maft pro. Btw, how hard/easy is the wiring?
I havent ordered mine yet, but from researching, wiring is as easy as wiring a S-AFC. Pretty straigh forward, Tap into certain wires, splice one or a couple of wires depending of the features you are using.
