I am tired of the SAFC II and AVCR bullshit. Want to go with Map ecu 2 cause I'm sub 800hp and many supra guys have said great things about this piggy-back unit.

My question is, how does it handle the boost control? Does it do a good job?

Should I keep my existing AVCR?

Also, with the two maps that can be made, can you have a different boost setting for each map? so my economy is 15psi but then high octane map is 25psi?

Will it control the boost per gear as well?

Misc. Question...

Does it still get rid of my stock map?

i caution you on basing your choices solely on what others may have/haven't done. that much power on a piggyback alone isn't the best choice....

why not? what does an aem do better than the map ecu 2 in terms of safe tuning? plenty of 2jz guys have gone 5,6, maybe even 700hp on this unit. Have you actually read about this product? No offense. The greddy emanage is a piggy-back and people are able to make lots of power. Why? Cause they can control fuel and timing extremely well.

YEAH!

think about it- what makes a newer computer any better than your 286? faster processing speed and more throughput. newer engine management systems have finer detail in their base tables, are able to correct faster (most current model engines actually continually advance spark until the point of knock, then back down...) and generally perform better.

regardless, my point is simple- do you want to make more than 500 rwhp? go standalone.

don't like my opinion? too bad.

Dealing with the TCCS @ elevated horsepower levels is just that. "Dealing with it". It offers no support or assistance. You have to overcorrect maps for injector sizes so that the stock ecu thinks it's still stock and the same goes for MAF/Speed Density and that's just dealing with the cold side of it all.

When it comes down to it, you don't really know what the stock system is attempting to do. Don't compare the Mk3 to a Mk4, they aren't the same system in any regards.
