Hey everyone. I have an 88 supra which I just did a NA-T swap. It is still the NA block, but I bored .20 over, forged cupped pistons, rods, head work, metal head gasket, etc. I Just got a 1990 turbo auto part car and swapped all the wiring harness. So "technically" the car is 1990 electronic wise. When I first got the swap done I had major problems getting the timing right. The closest I could get it was 17 degrees. It ran good and strong for a week and I was still trying to get the timing right. Now here is where the problems start. When I drive around town like stop and go it runs alright but sometimes stalls when I push in the clutch. I'm guessing that is a timing issue. Also When driving on highway at a constant rpm the car shuts off because it burns up a coil. (yes I've had it towed twice now). Now let me pause a second, I had to put my coils on the firewall and they are properly grounded to the engine.
So after I blew the coils when I turned my key to acc to move the steering wheel to roll the car into the garage an electrical fire starts on the yellow wire going to the coil packs. This has happened twice.
So I am guessing that there might be a short in the wiring harness and or my ecu is bad because the timing is not going right and the coils are getting burned after constant highway driving
Any ideas? This is a daily driver so I need to fix it fast!!
