Okay I've had a mk3 for a month now, love it. Looking at 1jzgte swap. Answer the questions as you can please! Haha, Sorry if they've been answered before.

My Supra is a 1989 7mge, 210k miles. I've done some work, new plugs and distributer cap, k&n intake filter. And have had a full 3" straight pipe exhaust done with a muffler(Huge difference).

1) As I have a w58 trans, this will need to mate up to a 1jz. I'm not worried about it, it can take a good amount of power, just going to try to put an aftermarket clutch on it. Any tips for what I need to mate the w58 to a 1jz?

2) 1jzgte, I'm looking at the original 1st gen 1j, from a Japan turbo supra. Mounting wise everything the same? I know they're basically the same mount is there really any brackets or anything I'll need?

3) I was looking at the engine bay.. And wondering how the helll someone can run big tubes to a front mount intercooler and back to the intake?

4) ONce I get the 1jz in, the engine is rated ~280hp. With an exhaust and big front mount IC will it probably be around 300hp?

5) What are problems you run into while putting a 1jzgte into the supra?

6) Exhaust Qs: When I have hard throttle, upwards of 4k+ RPM I hear like snapping basically, what does this mean? Also when at very low rpm when I release throttle and I hear awesome gargling sounds from exhaust, what does this mean?

7) Does the 1j make decent power/torque without the turbo spooling?

8) Any sensors or anything I"ll need? Will TEMS still work? I'm looking at an engine alone (no trans) with all sensors and harness.

Please don't insult my questions lol. I'm helping on the work, I also have other guys helping.

Ditch the W58 and get a R154. You can use a W58 by getting a W58 to 1JZ trans bellhousing. You should get a R154 to start off with because it will be cheaper since it won't break when you start doing simple upgrades.

You will not need to change the oil pan if you get a 1JZ from a Supra. If you have an 89+ car, it will work with the 1JZ Supra OEM Engine brackets and round mounts. If your car is pre-89 and uses square mounts, you will need engine brackets that can be bought here in the for sale section from BIC, a vendor on here.

Not sure what you mean, it all fits. Very easy to do the piping.

With exhaust and a simple intake, you should be over at or a little over 300HP but that all depends on the health of the twins.

Wiring. There are different 1JZ. Soarer, Chaser and Supra. You will need to get the wiring mated for your body plugs and extended. Make sure you know which car the 1JZ you have came from. Phoenix Tuning will help with your wiring.

I have no clue what this means.

It is decent and it moves the car very well.

You will need to tell the person you are sending your harness to that you have TEMS to have them wire it up correctly. I don't believe the TEMS go through the engine harness but I can be wrong. Ask Phoenix Tuning about this.

Okay thanks. So the wiring isn't exactly the same? Has to be cut and extended? Will the battery and fusebox need to be relocated?

By the exhaust I mean the sound the car makes, different sounds mean what?

Thanks for the answers that helps a lot. People say the w58 does just fine until you're doing reeally heavy over 400hp. What do you mean by the bellhousing? Yes the engine I"m going to get is from a JDM supra. I'm pretty sure the supra is the only 1jz with a mid/rear sump right? The aristo and cressida and other vehicles used a front sump. COrrect me if I'm wrong.

Well with the cost of the bellhousing I mine as well get a 1jz with a r154? I believe ther eis one for 2200. Money is a bit tight. The engine alone with all sensors and uncut harness is 1500.

If money is tight don't do a swap It adds up fast. If you do just buy a jza70 engine r154 trans combo for $2200 it will all swap in with no problem, and you'll have a better trans. The w58 bell will cost you $350

Look at my build. I have a list of almost everything I bought for the build I'm sure I forgot somethings. And I'm already at 6k and its still not running.
