Maft fco bypass function issues

I"m having trouble with the hz clamp feature on my maft setup. My applicable mods are: maft w/new 3" sensor in draw through mode, 1jz i/c w/2.25 hardpipes, full 3" exhaust, boostvalve.com mbc, rebuilt 440's, stock ct and an auto with valve body work (boost spikes on gear change, which is why I want to out the hz clamp and see how I like it) I"m using an inovate lm1 wideband unit w/bosch wbo2 sensor and street tuning. I have all the settings on the maft zero'd out at the moment besides the setting for the 440's along with a 1400 hz clamp. Anyways I've read all the threads I could find here and on full throttles support forum, but didn't see any solutions posted and I"m wondering if anyone can share any of their experiences/knowledge with me. I"m also looking into a new boost controller due to the inconsistencies this one is providing(working fine about 30% of the time). Thanks

It seems to me that your hitting FCO because your settings are zero'd out. Try to tune it whereas your not running too rich (I'm assuming that your rich due to you hitting FCO). Grim is running 17 psi thru his tuned MAFT IIRC.

Our cars have just about the same mods.

I'm running 17psi through mine - but I do *not* have the FCO feature working, I've just tuned it so that fuel cut doesn't hit until about 24 psi.

My next step is to reflash the MAFT unit - I've been meaning to do that, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Hey Grim, just curious. What are your settings? I couldn't get mine tuned enough to hit FCO until 12psi.

Damn... I'd have to open it up and look, to be honest. Once I got it set, I just left it alone. I can likley pull it apart and have a peek after the weekend, though. I'll be out of contact through this weekend - no internet access where I'm going.

So Grim you are running 440's as well? I started tuning fco out as well, but it's hard to datalog well when you're smacking fuel cut => I'm sure I can work around it for the time being though. So by the reflash comment you made, do you mean that our current version does not support the fco bypass feature? Thanks very much for the input fellas. Got any suggestions on the boost spike on (auto) gear change.

You need a better MBC, contact DrJonez about one. It's supposed to be pretty much spike free.

I was curious too, Grim. What's the purpose of reflashing and how do you do it?

Yah I may end up doing that. I have with the same conroller and it works fine on his setup..but I guess "his setup" is the key. Just doesn't happen to work for me. Thanks

My theory is that somehow I got a pre-release firmware revision, before the FCO feature was enabled. So, Mike at Full Throttle send me the release firmware and instructions for how to flash the unit.

I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. The only reason I want to get it working is so that I can update my install instructions, I don't plan on enabling that feature for use on my setup past the testing stage.

Yes, I am running stock 440s.

How is the flash performed Grim? or is it just an eprom swap out..Thanks

You use a modified serial cable connected to the MAFT with a few wires, and follow some simple instructions to load in the new file. But I'm sure FTS will ship you a new chip if you send them your old one (the chips aren't cheap).
