this is really odd, pretty much the only problem i have with my car now, other than the power antenna...

when i go around corners, turning left, a light comes on on my instrument pannel that looks like a orange circular air filter (like you'd find on a old muscle car) then it goes off. The connector for the wiring harness on my maf has always been messed up (the glue that holds the plastic piece in/on the maf was broken before i got the car, and the connector can be jiggled around). On the other hand, i've never had any mechanical issues (bisides having to replace the motor) (i'm talkin about idleing issues, or running rich).
it jus bugs me when i take left turns :-/... anyone know what the light's for?

seriously though, fill your coolant resivoir;) that light is a radiator symbol.

LMAO :yelrotflm , it all makes sense now... i was just curious, but that makes sense now, i was about to go buy a new maf, but the whole issue was either
a. oil pump was bad (1 in a million chances)
b. previous owner used oil that was 1$ per quart/didn't change the filter

one way or another, on my old motor, oil wasn't making it's way through the journals in my crank, it would overheat and run hot w/ a brand new radiator, water pump, no thermostat, new fan clutch, and fan shroud. i couldn't figure out for the longest time what the problem was, and i was 17, so i didn't have $ for anything major, but finally a rod bearing spun, i wasn't even driving fast, in fact, i simply started my car at school, and i heard it, where it wasn't before :nono:

anyhow, i got a jdm motor, did a top end re-build, usin royal purple, and i'm gonna run some seafoam through it, should do some good? motor's goin in next weekend, so i'm guessing i shouldn't see the light anymore.

go outside, right this moment, and put some coolant in your radiator overflow tank, drown that damn bird so he'll quit escaping.

The 7M does not use a MAF sensor anyway. Was the reservoir light on when you had to replace the radiator?
hm... mass air flow sensor? isn't that the box right behind the intake filter? anyhow, the rad. was replaced right after i bought the car, so i don't know, but i know for a fact the resiviour was topped off and so was the rad. but the light would come on when i took left turns, not right turns, really odd

I meant engnine...Doh! Was the museum, bird cage, etc on when the engine needed replacing, and why did it need replacling?

isn't that the box right behind the intake filter?
No. That is a Karman Vortex volume air flow meter. It doesn't measue air mass.

Easy fix.
Remove your coolant res, unplug your sensor and take it out of the car. (It is just a tight fit, if your very careful, and use a long common screwdriver, you can remove the coolant overflow tank and leave the bracket mounted on the car. Otherwise, just unbolt the bracket and take it and the tank out.)

Ok, so your tank is out, and the sensor is in place still right?

Go raid your Mom's laundry room for some bleach. You only need about 3 cap full's of the stuff in some clean water. (Oh, your supposed to have rinsed out the coolant tank by this time, and removed any loose dirt or grime from the tank.)
So take the bleach water, and put it in your tank. Put the lid on. Plug the holes with your fingers and shake it. The bleach in the tank will clean up all the crap you can't just wash out. If one application of bleach water does not do the trick, try some more. Just be sure to rinse well before you put the tank and sensor back into the car. No bleach and coolant please.

Re-install the tank, plug in the coolant sensor wires and fill with coolant to the cold mark. Drive and check for leaks.

Should work fine after this. And your tank will look better too.

BTW, the bird is gone joke is so funny about 10 years ago... LOL

reason why i replaced the motor, is at the bottom of the 1st page, but pretty much, i had a warped head and crank, and a spun rod bearing, didn't feel like going through that, and wanted a lower mileage motor + i found a 7m-gte w/ a full wiring harness, pretty much all of the electronics under the hood (fuses, ignitor chip, yada yada), a auto tranny, and 25,885 kilometers on it for $975 shipped

and i never knew that^^^ vortex? why do people call it a maf?

That is a good reason to buy a new engine. I was wondering if you had an overheating issue, that is why I asked about the light.

I don't know why people call it a mass air sensor. They are both air flow meters, but the mass air is just more accurate.
