machining specs anyone?

to those of you who've had your motor machined, what specs did you have you head and block machined to? How were your outcomes? any horror stories about machining? let me know, my stuff is off to be machined next week or so.

I'm doing the same exact thing right now. I think it depends on what kind of head gasket you're using. You need a certain RA (smoothness) for certain kinds of head gasket applications.

The most common MHG's:
HKS - 30 RA
Cometic/Titan - 50 RA

(or less for both)

if you can get it at the same price mine as well have them do it to an RA spec of 30, atleast thats what was recommended for me to do.

When I put my Cometic on I hella roughed it. I just pulled the head off, scraped the old gasket off of both surfaces, cleaned them, put the gasket on and bam, no prob and no BHG through all the redlining from the last 3 years, lol.
I wouldnt recommend that though, I live life on the edge ;)
