My car hates me right now.. First off tonite was possibly the WORST night for a turbo car, at midnight it was 85 and ~98% humidity. That real sticky humid air. The car felt alot slower tonite than anyother night. Anyway. First race of the night...
Me and the Turbo Probe are cruising down and this Loud Yellow Mach1 gets on the hwy with us. Well i dont hear a s/c whine or turbo spool so i think this should be easy. Well he kinda hangs back at first but then comes up next to me and i downshift, well no honks, no warning, basically as soon as he downshifts he tears off, so he gets a 1.5 car jump. He does this TWICE in a row, well same thing happens 70-120 no brake boosting i can barely pull up even with him. This happens twice. So then me and the Probe decide to run, well the Mach was getting off but his gf made him get over and run us one more time. This time we three honk and i get to brake boost. And to our suprise he doesnt really go anywhere, barely falls back at first, but by 120 he had fallen back to 2 cars or so. The probe is about a fender to 1/2 car on me.
Now this probe isnt a 4cyl pos, no this is a fully gutted 93 Probe GT with a 61trim t04, running 15psi on stock compression, on C16, open DP, aftermarket intake manifold, tuned with megasquirt, on M/t et radials. Basically its a 115trap car on 10psi. Not a slow car. So for this Mach to be keeping up, it had to be spraying a healthy shot on us. This was race 1, lol
Second race of the night was against my buddies Heads Cam, Procharged, 5spd 5.0. 3.73 gears, tuned with a 7lb pulley. We go from a 40 punch and somehow im running 21psi of boost!!! 4psi past my turbos efficiency. Not to mention that ive been driving around for an hour, and my motor is severely heat soaked.. Well the first runs was dead even up to 130, i had 1/2 car on him on the top end. Well he knows my car and we know my car should have just ran away from him. So i offer to go out and turn the boost down and give him a good run. So i do a few pulls in 3rd turn the boost down to the 17-18psi it should be at and its running a bit better. So after a short 15min cool down. WE do another 40 punch. This time i spin and he gets a fender on me, so i make that up and this time i put 1.5 cars on him. Better but still not running my best. We are going to re-run on a cooler night in better conditions.
Then i ran chase car whent he Probe ran a Z06, and the probe got beat by both of us cause he couldnt boost more than 6psi, for unknown reasons.
Ran a Longtubes, exhaust, tune, underdrive pulley'd, larger TB New Mustang GT. the probe ran him on 6psi and put 2 cars on him, i just gave it enough to run along side of him, maybe 1/2 throttle..
And than for the finale to the night. We are crusing back home and this guy we met with a red SS is following him, we ended up running him like 6-8times. Thing was sick. I finally got a good run with him, id get out 1/4 car from teh punch than hed frieght-train me to about 4-4.5 cars to 120. Im thinking he spraying on me. But i find out later its a full bolt on, 402 stroker, heads, cam, gears, 6-spd SS. all motor traps high 120's:aigo:
One of the worst conditions to race, and it turns out to be an incredible night for racing..
WE have on video the races with me and the mach1, including the three wide races, the probe and the z06, and im not sure about the 402 SS. but ill post them up asap.
