I just want some general opinions of Lucas oil stabilizer.

Im trying to stop my leaking valve stem seals. It smokes at long idle and decel. Its really annoying... Im going to run full synthetic oil ( I heard when it burns it is much less visible ) and maybe oil stabilizer.

all i can say is it smells bad and tastes worse... switching to synthetic is a good idea though :icon_bigg

i love lucas... i use it in every change too.. better for cold starts too... the oil sticks to everything better so you dont do dry starts.. also helped the stinky smokey cold starts i recommend it..

i used lucas gear oil and lucas oil stabilizer in my differential... works great as far as i can tell... its very quiet and works flawlessly.. i trust lucas.. they arent the cheapest products but they are in the business of lubricants so you know they are serious about their products.

i just started using lucas oil stabiliser now (got half a bottle left) Now i saw the bob the oil guys test and saw the amount of foam it made and how it left the oil a milky color and separated in layers im not so sure now.

Maybe a stupid question, but what is NEO synthetic?

I used it in my MR2 as a bandaid for oil consumption, and it worked beyond what I expected. Went from 1/2 a litre top up per tank of gas (if driving hard) to barely any at all

that is nothing bad about lucas. its fairly thick stuff. but it also forms a bond as well. mainly because its really sticky but it does help. I personally wouldn't run lucas w/20 50 in any kind of cold weather thats asking for trouble on its own. I put some in an old chevy 305 and it smoothed everything out and the truck feels much better. Used some in my old tbird every oil change and havent had a problem with it. Now the foaming I have not had a problem with. It does say that the oil stabilizer can be used in gear boxes but personally i'd keep it just for the engine.

I have never run anything but top quality oil. Here in California it never snows so multi weight oil is a no go for me we have days that top 100. I have always run Castrol straight 40 weight in ever car I have ever owned each and every one of the many have many 100's of thousands of miles on them. my last van had a 360 I built myself and it had over 360k miles on it when I gave it away and didnt burn even a half a quart of oil in between the my religious oil changes at 3k miles. I always let my cars warm up a few mins and always let them cool down after hard driving these are two key factors to long life motors providing all mechnical factors are taken care of.

i use a quart w/ every oil change and it is noticably stickier, i have to pour some oil into the bottle and shake it a bit to get the rest of the stabilizer out and i can just see it caked all over the bottle while the other bottles of oil (10w40) just pours out MUCH quicker and leaves less in the bottle. reduced my startup valve noise by allot in the winter months. wont fix anything, just protect it.
