Hi, I would like to know if the 3.7 LSD's have a reputation for being strong or not! I basically need to know if it will cope with supercharged V8 type torque- around the 4-500ft lbs figure I guess. Any help much appreciated!

should be ok as long as it is maintained and in good condition, and if you dont abuse it. mine has seen over 500 ft lbs on multiple occasions. but i have herd of people destroying them at the drag strip by launching to hard.

Upgradedsupra has ran his down the track at least a hundred times and he was making over 600rwhp. I've launched mine at 470rwhp a lot of times and never had any issues with it. I would think you'd break a driveshaft or axle before you break the rearend, but I could be wrong.

Excellent thanks for your replies, my other option is a 7.5" Cosworth diff or a BMW M3/5 diff, just want the strongest so I never have to worry about breaking it!!! I may try out the supra one then...

The pinion preload tends to be low on used diffs because the pinion crush sleeve fatigues. Easily addressed by replacing it with an aftermarket crush collar eliminator. If the preload is low, you stand a good chance of breaking your diff on a hard launch. The other site has more info on this in a post written by joliroger4.
