well im thinking of lowering my car 87 n/a supra. I was looking on e-bay and the prices were kinda expensive. I was wondering if maybe there is a cheaper way to lower it without just cutting them.

On springs you generally get what you pay for. Save up and get a decent set. You might also check for some used ones to save money

Eibach + tokico's see, to be very popular. They are both about 200 on ebay so 400+s/h less bodyroll and mine actually feel better then my stock shocks, but then again what cna yo uexpect from 20 year old shocks

Whatever you do dont cheap out on suspension. I did that when I had one of my Civic's and the results weren't pretty. I put Dropzone struts and "coilovers" I hit an expansion strip on bridge going like 40Km/h and the rear strut housings broke off from the lower control arm! I was about 40Km from home too. Not pleasant! I personally have Tien spring/Tien adjustable strut combo on my mine an it handles wonderfully. Cant go wrong with Tokico's & Eibach's or even like fandffan was saying Intrax. Just dont cheap out on those. You may end up spending more in the long run.

plus cutting your springs wont change your ride height it will change the way the spring unloads and takes load while driving which means worse driving and more jacked up problems with the rest of the suspension parts and bushings and tires and everything else cutting springs=bad

I'm running EiBach's and KYB's on my car. Girl i know @ advance auto parts hooked me up. I would have gotten the struts, mounts, and springs for around $300, But i hassled her down to $175 :biglaugh:

uhhh

yes, cutting springs does lower your ride height.. the only reason its bad is because the stock shocks arent valved for the lower ride height and stiffer spring rates, therefore they go out a lot sooner.

the bushings on his car are probably already bad, considering how old it is, and you can fix un-even tire wear w. an alignment. which by the way, you'll need even if you lower your car properly.

I dont in any way approve of cutting your springs, but it isnt nearly as bad as some people say it is.

that and most auto manufacturers allow for a 15-20% difference between each spring rate from factory, so you wont have exactly uniform spring rates on there anyways.

dont cheap out, go for quality, not price. if it mean a few more months @ truck ride height while you're saving up, so be it.

The reason i went with KYB was because i had a fellow supra owner say that he had 3 struts blow out on him in 2 months and he had to wait almost 2 months to get replacements. Riding along and BOOM- the RF strut blew out. a month after that both rears started leaking and the RR blew a day before the LR.

Uh.

Tokico Blue's around 190-199 shipped... Ebay.. dont use KYB GR2's they cheap and blow out with lowering springs, there ment for OEM replacement.

www.Jcwhitney.com get Intrax springs 160ish shipped if they have free shipping like they usually do.
