Loud Noise coming from engine

I know I was being stupid, and I know I should recognize this noise, but I cannot undo the past, and I would like to learn.

I went 120mph on the highway, and put the car into neutral to slow down. My Mass airflow sensor is bad so the car cannot idle correctly and it shut off at 120mph. I pulled to the side of the highway and started it up. After accelerating to about 40 I heard the noise in the video, I immediately took the next exit and drove to a side road and parked. I got my laptop out and took the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMk6hNeooxs

When checking the oil I saw that it was pretty much gone. I had checked it 2 days ago and it was 100 percent fine.

I also checked for exhaust leaks and the exhaust burned me, pretty bad (have burns on skin) but the stock temp gauge is only about half way up.

The engine runs low on coolant (there is a leak somewhere) so I put water in and that may have helped cause this problem. I also noticed my overflow tank had overflowed and squirted all around the front of the car.

Please help, and post ANY opinions. I know that a few things I did were stupid, and I am not that great with cars, (hope to be someday) so I don't know what the noise is.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I should add that I never went above 6k RPMs EVER, probably about 5500 max

A momentary loss of oil would do it.

As you said there was almost no oil left in the motor. At the speed and rpm's you were going...think about it.

That was enough time to burn up 10 motors.

So I guess the question I need to ask is... where the hell did the oil go? on the highway? My exhaust wasn't smoking or anything.

You can pull the engine yourself and buy new rod bearings and main bearings for a couple hundred dollars. A new gasket set from Toyota will cost you about $150.00 I think. You may need a new oil pump which is about $200.00 and the new hoses will run you another couple hundred probably. I haven't had to buy any 7m hoses so I don't know how much they cost. Good luck either way.

If I went to a garage and asked them to rebuild the engine, and replace all the hoses, and fix my coolant leak what kind of price tag would I be looking at (obviously I understand that only rough estimates can be given.)

You'll have to get it apart before you'll be able to tell, but it's bad. I would consider a good used engine, maybe a jdm replacement if money is the main concern.

It would cost you probably three to four thousand for a shop to install a 2jz into a MKIII. You'll be better off rebuilding your 7m. I did my own 1jz swap and it cost me about eight thousand dollars.

Might be my best option... looking at the cost of the swap, can't afford that.

Try to find some members on here locally that can help you. Most members are usually willing to help a fellow member out for the cost of pizzza and beer, or for me, sweet tea.

i bought a new longblock from toyota for $2800, if all the accessories are still good just drop in the new longblock. While your tearing everything off the old block u should be able to see what needs replacing.

I've got an upgraded (arp harware, clevites, mhg, etc) rebuilt long block coming in a few weeks from these guys for $2750:

www.legendofaces.com

I think their stock rebuilt (package 1) longblock is priced at $2,250 + $500 core charge (since yours might not be much of a core anymore  ). Another option, anyway.

Pulling the motor's not a bad job - check out the "Engine Removal in 49 Steps" thread from Grimjack and JetJock in the tech reference section, and good luck!
