Lots of blue smoke at startup

Help! I don't know what's wrong with my car.

The engine was rebuilt about 2-3 months ago. It's always been smoking since the day I got it back, but they said it was normal and that I have to burn shit off and let it break in, but it seems to be getting a little worse if you ask me. So far I've put 1300 miles on the rebuild.

This is what happens. If I start the car up when it is bone cold it won't puff out smoke right away. But after about 10-15 seconds the smoke starts coming. That goes on for a while until the car is very well warmed up. Then no more smoke, or very little.

If I start the car up after it's still warm, no smoke.

I don't see puffs of smoke come out when I hit the turbo hard, just at cold startup.

I redid the PCV system because the factory pipes were all cruddy anyways so I thought by putting in a less-restricted setup with a catch can that would help, but it didn't.

The only thing I can think of is the turbo? Anyone else have any advice? How do I rule out the engine? The engine seems very strong and healthy.

Thanks in advance!

compression test if any numbers show a difference of 10psi between any other cylinders put oil in the cylinder and redo compression test.

Sounds to me like your turbo is fubar or you don't have positive crank case ventalation and you're sucking / blowing oil from some where. I doubt the valve stem seals would be shot by now, unless the rebuilding company didn't put on new stem seals or install them propperly.

Take the turbo elbow off and inspect for oil on the back side of the turbo internally.

Also, pull your lower boost hose off at the IC connection, and see how much oil comes out.

I'll get some compression numbers and inspect the IC pipes to see if I find any large amounts of oils and let you know...

If anyone else has any other ideas, please let me know!
