ok, so quite a few ppl have already mentioned how people without PS in their Supra's should be careful when taking a sudden bump or something on the road.

honestly speaking, just how out of control will the car get without PS? out of control as in the car is gonna do a 1080, followed by hovering over the air doing a triple kickflip while getting ready to grind the top of a bus and then landing on the streets and magically crashing into the biggest telephone post available in the area?

or is the car just gonna pull a bit on the steering wheel like when the car is not aligned or not well aligned?

I currently don't have PS working in my car as it has a bad leak from the rack. When you hit a bump it does pull to the side but I don't find it to be that severe. The thing I notice alot without PS is I notice when the road is uneven so the car wants to pull in one direction or another. Its just one of several things competing for money on my Supra.

hmm, not sure what to tell ya.
my PS is currently not working, and my wheels are pretty badly out of alignment, but the only problems I have while driving it <including fast work like getting out of being sideways> is that its a bitch to steer under 5 MPH....
no problems wiht insane explosions or kickflipping.

No p/s here. yeah it pulls when you hit a bump going around a turn, but only realy happens when taking a turn hard. Like when your holding the steering wheel in to the turn and hit a bump it jerks the opposite way. Pretty scary when taking a tight turn hard and it happens. But other than that i love rocking no P/s.

I'm almost positvie that you only get a bad pull over a bump in a targa... I had an 87 targa that did that over a bump w/o ps... and now I have an 89 hardtop and I really don't feel it much and I only have 225/50/16's on the front... the targa's are obviously weaker than hardtops... but in my opion are more fun to drive... I miss my targa...

huh? Im pretty sure what youre thinking is the fact that you cant countersteer fast enough to get the car straight if you do lose control.

that is what it boils down to.

I don't care if you are the incredible hulk. There is no way that you will win against a 3400+ car trying to point the wheels where it wants to when you lose control.

sidenote: you guys are VERY aware that NASCAR does run power steering in thier cars? Why? 3200+ of metal is not easy to control much less when it is getting buffeted by the front cars turbulance ;)

Forget IRL, Cart and F1 as they weigh half as much as our rides do.

I am glad to see these kind of answers in response to the p/s debate. I keep reading threads wherein some moron wants to disconnect his p/s.

"How out of control can you get?" Out of control enough to kill me or whoever you run into. How stupid can one be? Like Figgie said it's a 3200+ car! Driving a Supra around like it was a VW Bug with no power steering is just plain stupid.

Spend the money and get your p/s fixed!

those are my symptoms...the larger the bump the faster and harder it pulls to one side. Uneven roads also get really annoying trying to change CD's or do something other than pull on the steering wheel

In my case...quite out of control actually, especially if you're not accustomed to it (and aren't stronger than the hulk). If there's a problem somewhere with it, and you can fix it for a fair price, do so NOW! Yanking saftey features off of a car because you broke it and didn't think you'd need it is not a good idea :icon_mad:

yeah, true when they are standing still, but once they are up to speed, the downforce actually causes the vertical load to be far greater then our cars. In all truth, it is really the amount of grip that the tire is generating on the ground that determines how hard it is to turn the wheel in a given direction. This is why you can take two tires that are the same tire when it comes to makeup of the tire, but one is lets say a 205X65X15 and the other being a 275X40X17 and run them on a given car. It is going to take a noticable amount more effort to steer the car with the 275 on it then it does for the same conditions as with the 205 because the 275 is generating more traction or grip.
