On this '90 Auto Turbo we bought, the shifter is very loose feeling. Anyway to tighten it up? Can't imagine it coming from the factory like that. Thanks.

If it is a side to side movement, there is a set of bushings under the console to the shifter.More than likeley, they have turnrd to dust and need to be replaced. It's not difficult to replace,if your handy with tools. You can get them at the dealer for a resonable costs, and should take no more than 2 hours to replace.

Yup, side-to-side slop. Thanks for the info.

I replaced the bushings in my shifter & the difference was night & day. I'm converting to a R154 shortly & I'll pm you when I get my tranny out & see if you still need the bushings. If so, you can have them. I think that they were like a buck and a half or so, if even that.

Let me know if you swap them out

thanks. will do. I'll probly end up buying them from my local dealer this week b/c I have carpet coming this week too. Don't wanna have to pull the console apart 2x's.
