Lookin at a 7MGTE

I'm looking at a 7M-GTE with a 5 speed tranny. He's charging me $1500. The only problem with it is that it has oil in the spark plug galley? He told me that all I have to do is buy the cheap gasket. True? I kno the price seems high, but i need one as i blew my engine a couple of nights ago.

no dont buy it. you could probably rebuild yours for less. and how is yours blown?

Not sure yet, but I have an N/A and want a turbo. So i'm gonna buy a 7mgte anyway.

That's what I thought.

I paid over $1000 just for basic machine work on the bottom end, no assembly; and I had a discount. The head was another $500.

OP: If you really just need something to get by, it would work. It's not the best price I've ever seen, but if it's local and convenient it may be worth a little more money.

Oil in the spark plug valley is extremely common and its because Toyota used a crappy system for cinching the cam covers down.

So its not a big problem that theres oil in there? Cheap fix? Because if it is im gonna go for it cuz im dyin for a turbo! I would sell my soul....:evildeal: lol.

The oil itself is not a problem, but make absolutely sure everything else is TOP NOTCH, and you probably should go ahead and do a head gasket while it's out. Also, take off the oil pan and make sure the rod bearings are in good condition and you don't see any little metal flakes in the pan.

i have a fully rebuilt shortblock with 3000 miles on it. ALL new parts used. when i say ALL i mean EVERYTHING. new crank, new rods, new pistons, clevite bearings, new ARP ROD BOLTS, oil pump, water pump, EVERYTHING NEW. im asking 1500 for it but im open to offers. if you were to get my shortblock you could slap whatever head you want on it and be confident that you have a BRAND SPANKING NEW motor in your car...
