light knock with cam gear installation...

i posted about this before, the tapping that is there at any rpm, the car is running really rich, took first spark plug out and it smelled like gas, and it was covered in carbon

working on it today, i should've done everything right but i guess i didn't o_O

How far did you advance/retard the cams?Might be to much advance/retard you put a timing light on it?Metal to metal might be a spring seat/valve guide the cam gear might be rubbing something you check the chain guides/chain slack and so on thats all i can give you.One more thing might be coil bind if you have stock springs. ps Sublime rocks

i reinstalled the old cam gears today and it didnt knock.. i had the new ones set to 0 before maybe it was bad to assume they would act like stock ones?

Nowhere on the engine in any form is there a chain. Are you reffering to the timing belt perhaps instead?

Yeah i was referring to the belt im sorry i was thinking about whatever poped in my head im used to big block fords sorry
