alright well here's basically what i'm going through

-my supra (also my DD), hasn't run since fall began (overheated, i tore it down and got it back together then had a fire incident and haven't touched it since)
-i have no money
-i go to school tues/thurs 10-4pm
-usually i carpooled to school, but my buddy just changed his schedule (which i went through hell to sync mine exactly with his) so he can't take me anymore
-i NEED a reliable car, but have no job (meaning i can't provide proof of income to get a loan)
-my mom cannot afford any more things, she is already struggling to just pay for everything we have, and that is putting things lightly :[

what should i do? there are a few places i can walk to to work, but i have a non-running supra that i have to tend to... and i need a reliable car to get to/from school

any ideas on what i should do?

School and transportation are priorities, and you have no cash. I see no solution, other than going for a trade for cheap running car. Try craigslist.org and see who would trade you for it. Holding on to the Supra only aggravates the situation. But kudos for sticking with school, even when times are hard. Once you graduate and get on your own two feet, you can buy whatever Supra fits your budget and situation. Right now is not the time to own such money pit. Finding a job you can walk to would really help things. Good luck.

yeahhh i REALLY want to hold onto the supra but if i can't get it running within a month i think i'm gonna have to let it go.. i've contemplated dropping out of school to just work and save money to get a decent used car but my mom won't allow it. we'll see how things go

thanks for your words :icon_razz

Get a job. If you want something bad enough, you will go to the ends of the earth to figure things out.

I lived an hour and a half away from uni, with no car, plus worked 3 jobs in different suburbs... You just gotta get creative with solutions :)

dude, i have that spare block and motor. let me know what you need and i'll try to send'em your way ASAP to help you out.
ahhh dude i would only need that block but i don't have anywhere to actually pull the motor and do the swap. and with the car not running i can't really haul it anywhere

i'm also really swamped with school lately, i don't think i'd be able to put in the work

Small displacement motorcycle. It'll get you around, it's cheap to insure, and it's really cheap to run.

haha yeah i actually thought of the idea, but my mom won't let me on a motorcycle in this city (i can't blame her though, people drive like maniacs here)

this weekend i'm gonna tear into the car again and see if i can get everything fixed that was burned and figure why it wasn't starting

What does the supra need? and if you only go to school on tuesday and thursday thats not much at all, and you should be able to get a job... just take whatever you can get, ask your friends if any of there jobs have an opening, hell go cut some grass!!!

A motorcycle is actually a REALLY idea... as long as its not raining and your not scared of being on 2 wheels in an open vehicle...

Last option is to sell the supra, you MIGHT be able to sell it to somebody and then buy it back from them... sounds crazy but it could happen.

school is 10-4, i revolve around carpools so i can't work those days

i do admit i'm slackin a bit but because i crammed everything onto tues/thur, mon/wed i'm swamped with school work and the rest of the time up until 2 weeks ago i spent all of my spare time trying to get the car together. that's why nothing has happened as of yet (after the engine fire i was so mentally sick with the car)

i've decided that i'm not going to work for now, i'm going to try and get the car running, so i can keep it, DD it for awhile, get a loan, and buy a cheap DD to commute in

Whats the supra need to run again?

the car is all together, i tried to start the car but it wouldn't turn over; then a fire started near the fuel line and fried a few connectors on the harness, some wires, vacuum lines, the VSV, i'm not sure about the starter, some other things in that general area
