I have been looking into adding the lexus afm to my Turbo, I got this email from someone selling the afm he gave me alot of info about what I need, Here is what he told me.

My question was -

"If I buy the lexus AFM for my 89 Supra Turbo what else will I need?"

His answer was -

"You will need some way to tune the fuel delivery.
As I say in the auction, using an APEX-i Super-AFC is the easiest way to do it.

You will also need a good quality air-fuel ratio meter meant for a turbo car.
The cheap ones like Autometer, that just show "Rich" - "Lean" are not good enough.
They are meant for cars with carburetors, and don't show super rich AF ratios that turbo car needs.
Defi is about the most economical, but the GReddy, and TOMEI are excellent also.

You will also need a larger fuel pump, the stock will not handle it the 550 injectors.
Buy a good pump, not one of the chinese walbro copies being sold on eRip for $89 !
Look at this site to see why.......
http://www.fuel-pumps.net/walbro-forgeries.html

And of course, you need a reason for bigger injectors, as in higher boost.
If you want to screw an engine up quick with boost spikes, use one of the $20 (or less) home brew boost controllers, like the Joe P.(who the hell is Joe p. anyway ?? More like Joe's Piece of crap).
Not worth the risk, buy an electronic boost control, and save the trouble of blown pistons......
550 injectors are good for almost 20 psi."

DISCLAIMER - The opinion above is from someone that was selling a LEXUS AFM and trying to give me information about what else I may need. I pass this information to you without knowing if it is 100% true, I do not know if the coments about the manual boost controller for example are 100% true. I actually have a manual boost controller (came with the car) and I have had no problems. I plan on getting an electronic one if I do the AFM upgrade, however it does seem that this upgrade requires alot of other upgrades.

I hope this helped a little...

the n/a uses a different type of afm than the turbo and lexus. flapper vs kharman. The signals are not the same. Without some kind of converter, you will not get it to work.

To give the ECU a false airflow signal to prevent fuel cut after heavy airflow modifications.

The larger housing moves more air slower.

Search button will yield you more answers than starting a thread. This topic is all over the place.
i did search, and no this topic is not all over the place. there where no threads describing what exactly the afm does and if i could use it on my na-t conversion. the reason i have so few post here is that i hate to ask a question and have that one jackass that waste ther time saying shearch is your freind or some stupid ass thing like that. just for the record i always search before i ask anything.

just to make it clear, you can ONLY use a KV AFM with the turbo ECU. the NA ECU uses a flapper style AFM which is NOT compatible with the lexus (KV) afm.
