i don't know about safe but i had 550's and lexus w/ no pump and it ran real dawgish....if thats a word. so yes to the pump and i have a afpr and it's not on but to tune it you need to have as far as i know.

someone else will chime in

you dont NEED it right off the bat. however i recommend you do it. i have been running the lex 550 setup for sometime now w/o the pump and reg with no issues and im still rich as hell!

short answer: change the darn fuel pump. it's only $99 shipped from ebay, and is damn good insurance that your stocker doesn't die on you.

Well I've been trying to search for the past hour on anything about the Lex/550's combo and what the pros/cons are to using one without the other and what not...There really does need to be a sticky...

^ you're brave. don't be surprised if your motor grenades itself due to lack of fuel after the stock pump dies.

and jspec, yes, i'm referring to the aforementioned pump.

pro- it raises fuel cut
con- it's limited in adjustability as far as tuning alone. add in an SAFC and an AFPR and you can hit 500rwhp on this setup.

i recommended getting both the larger pump and afpr. I have the safcII also but i didn't want to cut corners. with this set up, like shaeff said, it's capable of high numbers.
