Was the lexus AFM only used on lexus's or is it possible to goto some junkyard and get something identical or very similiar. Im not looking at shelling out $100 for just the housing.

I also read that all you do is buy the housing put the old electronics in the LexAFM housing and install the housing. This true?

EDIT:
I just looked inside my stock AFM and its covered in oil, how can i clean this thing out and what can i use to clean the sensor off with?

the oil is probably from the pcv system, if not a bad turbo.
cleaning - use only a dry cloth to wipe down the electronics. do not use any cleaning solvents. it will damage the electronics.

hmm damn i tried that and its like stained into the metal.

What about a cutip dipped in water and run it along the inside of the shaft? on the electronics

ill use a dry cu-tip and try to get the oil and grime off of the shaft thing, and ill coat the housing & grid in a nice layer of brake cleaner.

i cleaned my MAF wires on other vehicles using CRC "electronic cleaner" in a aerosol can. worked great. can we use that?
i wouldn't. there's actually optics inside that can get damaged

you probably plan on doing this anyway, but i'll say it anyway.
be sure to remove the electronics from the housing before cleaning it.
