let's talk intercoolers

Okay guy I’m kind of new on to this whole high performance I’ve gathered some knowledge on how to do thing and what I have learn is from the 7m wonderful power plant and great it is indeed.

Well okay now what is the difference between an intercooler with the bar and plate setup and the tube and fin setup? Which one would have better cooling then the other or if there isn’t any difference between both. And why that setup you chose.

There are lots of details to this - but the short version is, buy a bar and plate IC, it'll likely be good to a much higher power level.

anyone know how much more efficient a 600hp water to air IC is compareded to a 600hp air to air ic?

^if you have a way to cool the water a water to air can be WAY over 100 percent efficent (using ice water or something)

water to air for drag racing.. otherwise its way to much hastle..

i dont see the point for water-air on a street driven car. the cooling effect is much better but once its all heat soaked, its useless... thats why its mostly only drag applications.

Anyone ever mod the ac compressor to cool the IC water? Or would it most likely take more hp than you recieved ??? haahha :dunno: but maybe able to keep your water cool for the air to water..

"new" Ford Lightning? lol.

My plans with the A2W is to actually have a secondary radiator instead of an A2A intercooler. I'm sure you could tap into the factory cooling system, but rather than reengineer that and mess with it, I'll have a secondary system...if I relied on one system and it failed for whatever reason, my engine goes out as well, whereas if I mess up on the A2W one, worse case scenerio its probably just air that isnt intercooled if it fails.

It'd be a fun project.

I doubt theres going to be another Lightning. Ford is focusing on profitable cars right now, and theres more money to be made in places other than the Lightning. "The next Lightning" has been denied plenty of times

I believe the old Lightning had it though
