Well, school me.

Ive got lots to lock up, and I want to know what to look for especially in terms of fireproofing.

I also don't want biometrics or electronic locks - I want an old school dial type.

So lets begin....

my twin mattress special edition works great. nice cushion storage, easy access, and no one dare go near it, (urinal stain protection)

jk,

I bought a fire/water safe from walmart for 100 bucks and stick my 22 pistol and .357 into.

Good gunsafes run several thousand dollars, so i never really looked into it.

I dont think Id ever want an electronic or bio lock either, too many things to go wrong ha.

Electronic locks are reliable and secure. Far more secure than most mechanical locks.

Look for a Patriot safe. Excellent quality, fireproof, massive and they make them big enough for even people with large collections.

the bio safes have a FAILSAFE so to speak....there is a key for them if it fails...it makes getting your guns much much quicker....so there is not " too much to go wrong! "

any ol safe will work aslong as it is fireproof....but you gotta know exactly how fire proof they are...make sure they have damn good insulation cause even fire proof safes get sooo damn hot that any polymer guns can warp and or melt...ammo can deformed n such....so make sure you read the labels and see exactly what the heat level its rated for! fire and glocks dont mix lol

Remington has a very nice selection of gun safes! and i highly recommend the finger print recognizable safes especially if you have home defense weapons in them!

Patriot is about the best for the money.

All gun safes are insulated with sheetrock as the "fireproofing" so get the ones with 5/8" sheetrock layers v/s the 1/2" stuff, and it's rated better. (Or if your really handy, you can add more layers yourself, but it's not easy, or simple.)

Should be able to get a good safe for under a grand from Patriot. ;)
