Hey everyone,

It is that time of year to get all your work done before spring/summer rolls around the corner. I am in the market for leather seat and door panel replacements. I have a few questions. Obviously many people have redone their interior. Where was this purchased? Leatherseats.com and Katskinz are the only two companies I know of.

My car: 1987 Tan/beige leather.

Problem: The previous owner swapped the front seats for cloth beige seats because I guess the leathers were ripped to shreds. I do not know if the front seats are from a pre89 or an 89+ so this may be a problem when looking for replacements. Also, can leather replacement covers work over a cloth seat?(obviously after removing the layer of cloth) Are they the same thing compared to leather seats? (padding, foam wise)

#1 Do they offer factory colour matched interior replacement leather?

I would only think of purchasing replacements if it was factory leather.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

They won't have an exact factory color, but they will tell you what is closest to the factory color. I was going to order from one of these sites, until I went to a local upholstery shop. The guy here said if I brought my old covers/dr. panel in, they would make me new ones for $150 less than one of those web sites.(I'm installing) This guy has also been around for over 30 years and his quality of work in phanomenal. Those site are selling you a kit that has vinyl wrap and leather seating surfaces. This mean that about 60% is vinyl and the other 40% is leather. you can get full leather, but it does get real expensive. He also told me that finding leather in non normal colors ie: black, tan, grey...will be very hard to source. Unfortunatley for me I'm doing an Ashern Red similar to what is found in the BMW M3 coupe with a black leather center. The ashern red is a faux vinyl color (it was too expensive to get real leather from BMW), which looks and feels exactly like leather (very good imitation). Fortunatley black is a common color for leather and was a good price for the centers. If you do get vinyl ask and make sure it is faux. If it isn't and is just a regular vinyl, it'll be hard, uncomfortable, and look plain cheap. Hope this helps.

I have a friend that is a dealer for katskinz.... He just ordered a set for his scion xB and I helped him install him. He paid $550 for full leather front and rear with swede centers in them.... They are very nice, and even the wrap is leather... He is selling them local for $75 over cost, so he doesn't make very much a set, but he isn't out to.... He also got leather door panels inserts in that price. They are very very nice, and I was completly amazed by the quality and the stiching on them... They have color matched stitches and all that. They are kind of a pain to install, but they were well worth it in the end..

Gixxer...whos you friend. Do you think he yould consider doing a GB. I'm sure there are a few people on the forums that would like to redo their interior. I haven't ordered my covers yet and neither has kyle. I'm sure more will to at that prce for real leather. If not do you think kyle and I can get a set from him. What is his company name, and does he have a web site?

he doesn't actually have a company, he has just been selling local....but I can talk to him, see what the prices are for our covers, and see what he is willing to do... He got the dealer account through his dad's businesses.... mainly so he could get a great deal on his for his show car...

Any info would be awesome.

I was thinking of just going with simple tan leather replacements with perforated centers, but I am thinking of going two tone. Tan with black perforated centers. What do you guys think of that combo? I looked over that guys thread in the "gallery" sections and saw his black on tan setup, but his seats are all black and the center section that is in black really throws off the whole design.

P.S. My car is black

That would look very awsome. Tan was the other color I was going to consider, but Im converting my burgandy interior to black. I would have gone with a darker tan...like a camel color. Problem is my seat belts are burgandy and I can't dye them. If I can find a set of tan or grey belts (supra's never came in black :icon_mad: ) then I'll go with camel instead of the red. If this goes through with gixxers friend, buying covers in the same shade range might be easier for him. Great choice of colours Kyle, especially on a black car.

Hey thanks. Its just an idea though. It would either be tan or tan on black. I might have to sell my sound system in order to get these replacements unless I can find some money another way. Might just have to borrow from my parents until I get them sold.

Suprastic - I added you to MSN if that's ok with you.

Wouldn't shadow grey from a later mk3 be close enough?
That would be what id go for, but my interior is perfect except for the seats.

If you could find someone giving a set up, i'd salute u. lol

Other then a shell that Mello is selling with the interior, i dont know of anyone who might even have one. Check it out among the cars for sale threads. His driver seat has a wear on it i think. He wants $3k for everything but hes got some nice coilovers.

Id be a shot in the dark to find one but sometimes you just get lucky. :icon_bigg
