so i notice my car had an exhuast leak at the manifold to block.. one stud was striped out and a few other bolts were lose,, so the exhuast was geting out some.. also it pretty well blew out the gasket it seems so i need to replace it.. but i was wondering.... what kind of power loss would this be causing me?? exhaust leaking before the turbo at the manifold.

I had this problem recently:cry: It sucks helicoiling the head in car. With a leaking exhaust manifold you are probably running super rich and getting almost no power. Power gains? Yea the power you should have! You might want to fix it before you get stranded somewhere.:aigo:

Im going to be helicoiling all my studs this week( after I get a trans fluid service) but even though it sounds like a lawn mower I notice it has pretty good power. I also have 3 studs that are bad.

spool much earlier?? hmmm i might be wrong..i think it will spool later..beacuse if you think about it, the turbo is running off exhaust..if you have a leak where the manifold is..its not getting all the the exhuast pressure..i just thought of that..i might be wrong..so someone correct me if i am. if you have an exhuast leak after the turbo i think itll spool much earlier

uh your wrong..lol an exhuast leak in the manifold before the exhaust gets in the turbo means its will spool slower, and spool less actualy, becuase theres not as much pressure to sping the turbine because the exhaust gases are escaping. can also create a loss in boost, like you might hit 14 psi then it will drop to like 10psi

why would i get stranded somewhere? and yes its super rich..lol
When the manifold finaly decides to remove itself from the head you have no power so no go.:biglaugh:
Heli-coil all of the studs....it would suck to do all this work only to do it again in a few weeks.

Im starting to have an exhaust leak on mine too although I dont know from where. It may seem possible that its from the exhaust manifold because I dont even hear my BoV anymore. I still have a stock manifold, but since I'll have to repair it, is it a good time to replace the stock manifold with an HKS or turbonetics one for performance? Or is it all the same junk? Sorry if the question is out of place lol.
