leaking clutch master cylinder?

hey guys, i think i've discovered as to why my car wont go into gear sometimes.

i looked underneath at my pedals, and there's fluid on the clutch pedal
im assuming that when i press the clutch, it leaks through there so it loses the pressure and refuses to get in gear.

any idea on how to fix this? would it be rebuildable? FUBAR'd and a need a new one?

any help appreciated

btw it's a 1990 W58 tranny if it makes a difference.

its a ROYAL pita.. im pretty sure... that you have to remove the power seat unless you want to murder your back.

I did it on my last turbo 5spd and it sucked.. ill take it toyota if it ever happens again.

Eh its not too bad on your back with the seat removed i was under there for hours trying to figure out why my brake lights were staying on and how to make them turn off and it was the stupid plastic/wax pad between the button and the brake arm.

Its almost comfy and im no little dude.

The bolt towards the fender is the harder one to get to,nothing an extension & u-joint can't get to.I just slide the seat all the way back and recline it ,then lay upside down in the seat.Makes it pretty easy to get at and I'm 6'2" and 190lbs. so I'm not exactly a midget. Also ,buy a new one, they can be had from a few places for pretty cheap.May want to pull the carpet and clean the brake fluid out of it,will eat paint and the coloring out of your carpet if left unattended.

my white supra was originally auto and i converted it over to manual. I never had a single problem getting it in. Adjusting wasn't even that bad too.

Just move the seat all the way back and you should be fine.

Buy a new one
http://store.driftmotion.com/Static/Itemclutchmastercylindersupra86-90.php for example. Doesn't cost very much... If of course it fits your 1990.

That's a reasonable price. I have one that looks just like this and a slave cylinder that is blue like that. I think i payed 45 for clutch master cylinder though and 15 for the slave.

it wants to shoot the fluid through the reservoir

I recomend you drop the transmission and start over cause you did something wrong...

I don't recomend forceing fluid anyplace cause it's not needed! You did something wrong so find it and fix it.
