Okay, I post in OCforums, a forum for overclockers, and in the general discussion thread, someone was asking for a car in the $3k to $4k range thats both durable and fun to drive.

I of course suggested a Mk3 Supra ;)

Was going so well until some total prick says this:

"I wouldnt go with the MK3 just for the fact that 95% of them have been run to death and maintained poorly because they are a supra.

For something reliable, look for a honda civic / acura integra. There are quite a few that have been owned by adults, and arent ub3r rac3 carS. That would be my first option."

In several other posts its clear he's a civic fanboy. Come on, time to guide another one away from the path of evil! :D

Reliability...

Supra's by their nature and the cost of spares aren't well maintained and even when they are they have inherent flaws/faults that will cost $$$ to correct.

Anyone that thinks they can buy one for a few K and just drive it are deluded, I've seen it here so many times in the past few years it's sad really.

"Little Johnny" gets his "new Supra" is all excited and says "Whoa dude Supras for life" a few weeks pass and it's "Supras suck big hairy donkey balls" after it goes BHG or Rod Knock, both of which are easily preventable.

All because little johnny forgot to check the oil and thought 16 PSI is safe on stock supra! :biglaugh:

Oh i'm not denying that Supra's have faults, BHG and the costs of maintainance, toyota stealerships charging £££ for parts etc, but the Supra isn't a bad car by any means. But Honda's aren't excused from the cost of maintainance or stealerships either.

However, I bought mine knowing that it would need work (mostly bodywork and a few electrical items, but we all know how the list starts off!). I suppose to someone that just wants to buy a car and drive it without needing to think of maintainance or bills etc, sure its not a great idea.

But from the original poster, he seems to want a car to drive fast, hence my suggestion of a Supra ;)

He's already turned down a '454 big block chevy suburban' (some kinda military vehicle?) and the rest of the topic is between: Corolla (good choice, but other than the AE86, are there any other good ones?), Kia Rio (Eugh!!), BMW E36 (Hmm, Straight 6...), Honda CRX (hmm) and Civic (!) or a Porsche 924....

This could turn out to be interesting. But, i just had a supporter for the Supra chime in and say 'Supra over Civic'! :D
