knocking noise??

i'm confused ont his one guys, so i had to ask...

description of noise
-sounds like extremely light rod knock, and only at sub 1k rpms
-has been the same intensity for over 4 months now
-goes away when clutch disc is disengaged from flywheel

any ideas?
i'm not really worried at this point, because i've put my engine though a lot, and nothing has happened or worsened

and before anyone says, why didn't you check it out 4 months ago... i thought it was my muffler tapping aganst the bellhousing (custom exhaust, by me)

Ha! My noise is even more confusing:

It only starts during a cold start and not immediately. But after about 20-30 seconds it would start. Sounds something like waaaah-shhhhhh-waaaah-shhhhhh...

After about 2-3 minutes of warming up, it goes away.

I have a tapping noise as well but it sounds like my injectors pulsating, I dunno...My buddies sti sounds the same...Weeiiird

It probably has something to do with the clutch's throw-out/pilot bearing being worn if it goes away when the clutch pedal is pushed in...

Mine does pretty much the same thing.

I'd say when the cluth disengages from flywheel and noise disapears ... throwout bearing? going out tranny ...

few bets but it cant be engine so far as the noise disapears with cluth depressed ...

I got a irritating noise when tranny still cold or after engine started after sitting for 10-15 min .... clap, clap , clap from between tranny and engine section ... it goes away when tranny is warmed up or after starting from warm 10-15 seconds passes ... got fresh red line in and I have hoped it will help ...but it didn't ... had regular tranny oil before and it was the same ... gues thrus washer or synchros are going soon but keepin good so far. fresh cluth and bearings .. what the hell
