KNOCK SENSOR

Well i got the motor out on sunday.What is very confusing is i thought all turbo models had 2 knock sensors.I have a 87 turbo and there was only one on the far back of the motor under the lower intake plenum.And i checked the harness and there is only one hookup on the harness too.So im kinda confused unless im wrong about turbos having 2 sensors.

i have a turbo and a non turbo and my turbo has 2 and the non has 1

how did the motor run before you pulled it? All tirbos have 2 sensors unless it is an na->t

My car ran like a clock ran great thats the thing?!!?The only reason why i pulled it is because it needed rings and every seal in it leaked.Hmmmm im kinda scared now im hoping my car isnt all redneck rigged.

Whoever made this car a na-t is good because.It has turbo dash r154 lmited slip the whole nine hard and the harness looks just like factory no solder no connectors nothing.I talked to a few friends and they said it might be a super early 86.5 because they did a few weird thing with the first few cars.but who knows.This sucks im going to sell this thing i dont want a ghetto rigged car

86.5 is NA only. If you only have one knock sensor it ran great then it is probably na->t

Hey here the other thing the knock sensor that is on the block wasnt even connected the sensor is gone so wtf?!?!?!Did they wire in a resistor or something somewhere?How could the car run without one?

The car runs with one knock sensor but maybe your car threw a code but the CEL isn't working.

Can you take a picture of the location of your knock sensor?

did you actually check the codes, or did you just look at the check engine light...?

the CEL won't illuminate constantly with code 52. when you check your codes, though, (use the link in my sig) i'm willing to bet that you'll have a code 52.

and if you think your car ran well before, wait until you fix the KS('s)

Shaeff i already checked the codes numerous times per tsrm and nothing.The funny thing is the more i took off the motor the more i thought to myself how did this car even run but it outran my wrx:icon_conf So who knows im going to tear into the wiring harness tonight and go over it with a fine tooth comb and check every thing,and im going to see if the block has oil squirters.

Alright i finally got the time to take the harness apart.It looks like my problem is that someone took the wire and jsut capped it and tied it back into the harness for some reason.Still makes me wonder how my car even ran.But im one step closer to getting the supra on the road so i can enjoy it.
