I've broken 3 knock sensors and I've had it! These things get so damn brittle. When it breaks, code 52 shows up and the car runs like shit. Anyone know how to bypass just one knock sensor? I'm going to leave the one behind the starter because that one has never been replaced and it's holding up. All replies are appreciated.

Are you actually breaking the sensor or is it just failing? Have you tried rewiring them? I just used speaker wire the last time I did it. Worked great for at least 10k miles. I sold the car and didn't keep up with it after it changed hands the third time. lol

Code 52 is strange. I've been around cars with no sensors and no code, one sensor and no code, two known good sensors and a code.

Pull the pins out of the ECU connector, shave some insulation down exposing bare wire, solder a small piece of wire across both of them. Unplug one of the knock sensors.

I did it a week or two ago, pissed that I couldn't get two good knock sensors (wiring was good).

im unsure of what you mean by breaking the knock sensors
is the connector of the sensor literally breaking off or do they keep going bad?
i wouldnt suggest just using 1 knock sensor
using 2 knock sensors is toyotas way of controlling the engine a whole lot better
lets say you disconnect the front knock sensor and only run the rear
what happens when cylinder 1 or 2 have a slight knock?
computer wont know to adjust and will more then likely end in a busted motor

Breaking these are fairly easy actually. When I got my car the back one was broken and now that I did a motor rebuild I replaced it and now the front one is broke. It was so brittle it pretty much just took someone touching it and the whole green connector breaks off flush with the nut part. I have a spare on my old N/A motor, I can just use that one right? Motor is same year
