Any recent work/ repairs/ upgrades to your car?
Any aftermarket parts?
How did you determine the sound is coming from the head?

Any Recent work done to the motor? I had an intermittent sound yesterday from my the front of the 7M and it was very frustrating. After an hour of looking at things I used a rod and started poking at a few areas and put my ear against it and it was my AC compressor making this weird noise, took the belt off and the noise was for sure gone.

That's what I would start with first. Remove each belt one and a time and listen to it run. If the noise happens to go away with whatever belt your remove then it could be one of your drive or idler pulley at fault. If none of them are faulty then move on. Check to see if your crank pulley is tight, and not loose & wobbling.

It's one of the easiest way and fastest to eliminate a lot of moving parts. Don't try to get a head of yourself. Take your time and go through it. The guessing game isn't fun on this car.
