I'm getting springs and sleeves, and they ask to specify the spring rate I want, the problem is, the ask for it in lbs. now I know what I want for spring rates, but I only know it in metric measurements, so I was wondering what it is in lbs. I wanted 21kgs in the front, and 16 in the back. thanks in advance!

21Kgs = 46.29702lbs and 16Kgs = 35.27392lbs

I think that's about right. I was using a program called Convert.exe and used the Mass option. Not sure if you wanted density, but it only has Kilograms/meters^3 to Pound/inch^3 and Pound/foot^3.

He wants to know a spring rate, which is in units of either kg (force) per mm, or lb (force) per inch. Mass and force are not the same, but that is a technicality outside the realm of this discussion. Anyway, if you don't want to use the conversion feature of the most prominent search engine, you could use good ol' factor analysis.

21kg/mm X 2.2lbs/kg= 46.3lbs/mm
46.3lbs/mm X 25.4mm/in = 1176lbs/in

Simplied to one line: 21kg/mm x 56 (lbs/kg)/(in/mm*) = 1176lbs/in

*note the mm/in was inversed when I put it below the division line...

They're track-car rates for sure. 18/10 draws complaints from about 1/2 of people for being too stiff for the street. I'd run 20/12 or maybe 20/14 for a 90% track 10% street car... 18/10 isn't bad IMHO, just firm with the right dampening

well, I dont mind a super ultra stiff suspension, I remember when my friend let me borrow his S13 for a while while my supra was in the shop, and his shit was so stiff, it just felt like he used metal rods bolted in place of shocks... I didnt mind, it FELT a lot faster... he had full coilovers, though, would there be any difference between springs/sleeves w/aftermarket shocks and a full coilover system?
