Hey everyone, my name's Simon and I live in Adelaide, Australia.
My car is a 1990 JZA70 Supra which originally started out as a Twin Turbo R. I bought it from Japan in December of 2005 in this state...straight off the boat!
being an 'R' the car came from the factory some extras such as:
Recaro interior
Momo gearknob and steering wheel
Bilstein suspension
(and a few other small things which i cannot think of atm)
modifications which i got with the car included:
3 inch cat back exhaust
K&N air filter
pivot adjustable headlight controller
17 inch BBS RG II wheels (9.5" wide rear 8.5" front)
momo RACE steering wheel.
spats front strut brace
apexi springs
after a bit of a clean this is how it came up
I got bored of the factory twin turbo set up pretty quickly so i upgraded to a Hypergear TR44 with a 38mm external gate. people wont be familiar with this type of turbo as they are assembled in Australia but i had it offered to me at a very good price as a trial and was very happy with the results.
I have dynoed the car once on the factory tune (to check AFRs which are very safe, and at 13 psi (wastegate spring) it made 300rwhp. power comes on good, not too laggy but delivery is much harsher than the factory twins (as youd expect) which is quite fun
along the way i have added cusco front and rear strut braces
I also ditched the bilstein shocks for Tein HA coilovers (which were crap) and have recently changed to Cusco Zero 2 coilovers (which are great). the car now sits much lower and handles far better than it ever has previously.
The clutch that was in there when i got the car didnt like the power delivery of the new turbo set up and consequently it fried. I replaced it with an OS Giken twin plate (type TS2CD) which holds up just fine, feels rock solid infact.
A few other things which i have fitted along the way include this cusco brake master cylinder stopper (doesnt do much on the street but got it cheap and it looks cool haha)
I also recently bought some fidanza adjustable cam gears which will go on when i can be stuffed.
Some pics with my brother's wheels (work rezax 17 X 9 & 8 +5 all round)
And lastly just some pics from a couple of weeks ago
To come in the future are a microtech, some bigger injectors (probably 550cc) bosch 040 fuel pump and a good tune. with 20 odd PSI i should be able to crack 400rwhp which will be the limit of this turbo set up. That may not happen for a while though because i am due to leave for 6 months overseas in June.
In fact im spending 4 months in the US so I plan on stocking up on cool parts whilst im in your country!
Anyhow, thanks for reading!
cheers
