JZA70 clip X-Member in MA70?

I am getting my JZA70 front clip tomorrow and I have a 89'T Supra with the old motor mounts. Now I have always thought that the crossmember from a JZA70 clip would just swap in and still still be compatable with a LHD steering rack. But I am now reading that it can't. On my MA70 it looks like Toyota drilled both sides of the member so you can use it on both RHD and LHD cars. I just want to know if the JZA70's had that same type of crossmember where I could just take out the plugs on the other side and swap it in. If anyone know's about this please let me know as I am doing this swap ASAP. Thank You in Advanced! - Ryan

You cannot use the jza-70 front X member/subframe. the mounting is for the steering to be on one side only : ( unless you want to weld the firewall on your supra and use the steering wheel and interior also ?

Just break down and use the BIC mounts $150 and then you can use the better heavy duty motor mounts.

earlier today i was using my cherry picker trying to pull the motor out it picked up my whole supra with no problem 1986.5 supra

when i did the same thing with my clip 1991 6 year newer supra better rubber and newer condition the liquid mounts tore apart like nothing and they retail for 150 each

the old square mounts are about 23$ each and are stronger but you feel a little more vibration. but 1jz haves less rotating mass so you dont feel a lot from this engine anyway.

I guess I will cut the mounts off of the JZ member and weld them on the MA one then. Man this really sucks I need it to run soon.

I know I have seen that. Thank you guys and this thread can get deleted by a mod at this point as I have got the clip and need no further info. I am going to use the motor mount x member from the clip and do some welding to that. I hope I can get it to work.

The BAC mounts. But I wasn't making fun of BIC, I like his stuff and he has sold many items to happy SM customers. We have used his mounts before several times and also the ceramic coated ddp's are really great.

This job takes a few hours and you need a welder, holesaw, grinder, paint, drill, sawsall, and 1/2" drill bit. If you don't have all those items you might as well buy the BIC mounts.

Yes I have seen that in the "1jz/2jz pics" thread but me and my dad are just going to modify the 1jz clip member steering rack to work on the other side so we don't mess with the mounts. Thanks anyways!

Don't forget you will also have to spend money on an alignment afterwords, and changing out that whole crossmember is a whole lot more work then modding the engine mounts on the one already in the car.
