Well, I guess that it's about time that I start showing some progress. I've been really de-motivated-as I first rolled the shell into my garage last September. I wish that I could say that I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but that would be a lie.


Here's the first pic, the whole car was covered in this muck. was a pain in the ass to get off.

Don't flame, I know the spacer is in the wrong spot. It's been fixed for a few months now. And the endlinks have been re-done as well.

as for the motor, I was planning on a 1J single build, but Tim @SP scored me a good deal on a 2J-that's about all that I know about the engine so far. I just kinda threw Tim a motor and some money and told him to have fun.

I do plan on painting the rest of the car black in the future-but not for a while. As much as I change my mind I'll probably try to find another shell by that time.

I went the cheap route for the paint, it's just rattle-can krylon. I just couldn't stand looking at that nasty engine bay. Actually at one point I was planning on spraying it white, but for some reason, I found the can of black in the garage,and one thing led to another.

My biggest plans are for the suspension. I want to use this as a weekend drifter. If I had enough money, I would try to fit the subframes from an is250/350 on here (freakin' amazing stock suspension). anyrate, back to the plan, so far the car has ST sway bars, some sort of JDM tie rod ends, sub frame spacers, my custom sway bar end links, and a couple other little suspension bits I've been working on. I would like to get the complete mkiii nylon bushing kit once i'm up and running.

I've really been liking some whites lately. Check out the white supras thread and you'll see why

Oh, also a look I've been wanting to try lately is black 80's style honeycomb rims with a polished lip. On a black car.

Just saying, I'm going to try and check in with the progress every now and then.

I picked up the shell for $1000, plus $500 to ship it to Vegas from LA. At one point it was CK Anderson's car-I'm pretty sure that I sold him that wheel back in the day too. small world. It previously had a running 1J in it-I have to look, but I don't think I have to change the wiring harness to go 2J. White's cool and all, but if I keep it white, my neighbors would lose the deception that I'm some sort of drug dealer or something....I also have an 08 IS250 that's blacked out, and my company car is an 09 Camry, that's all blacked out as well.

just finished painting the engine bay, and started putting things back into the engine bay. The paint didn't turn out 100% like I wanted it to-mostly because I tried to use a clear, and it caused some peeling/cracking. Advice to others:

1. sand/rough as much as humanly possible. I was getting some crazy fish eye action on the driver's side.
2. don't use a clear that's not compatible with whatever rattlecan brand you use-my advise for spray can is to skip the clear completely, and just double up on coats instead.

slow... supposedly next week the engine is supposed to ship. by that timeline, I'm expecting it within the next 6 months...

did some steering angle work today. turning to the right the saw blade bottoms out on the sway bar now, and going left, it hits the bump stop about 2-3 mm before full lock on the rack. I moved the tie rod mounting point 27mm inwards. I still need to get a tapered bit for the bottom side, but I started this as a test and the results are awesome.
