I got bored so I finally decided to make my own build thread. Nothing special, but I thought I'd share and plus it'll help kill some time.

some old pictures from the original owner

Had some military training to do and I decided to drive the car down to SoCal...
150 miles away from my destination the car decides to break down... WTF?
I was running out of time and had to report to my military base on time, a good buddy of mine told me to call 935 Motorsports, which literally saved my ass!
Robert was a good man and helped me figure out the problem, the culprit was the fuel pump relay, the original owner had some crappy wiring there.

p748475_8.jpg

4 weeks later, driving the car around, it decides to not drive anymore... crappy idle and everything, I needed to get back to my base.
Got the car towed to 935 motorsports, and check out what he found:

p748475_9.jpg

it's beautiful ain't it? it's wired pretty crappy wiring. Half of the wires were just twisted and capped, or just taped together.

Fast forward a few months, I'm back at home again.

fast forward some more, I have bad turbo seals, and guess what... one night my subframe finally decides to give out.

p748490_2.jpg

2 of the bolts on the differential broke off, and the whole top part of the subframe got ripped out.

which HG did you end up using for the 1.5jz? Awesome numbers for just 14psi. What are your goals with this motor?

well, I'm 1.5JZ no more, I'm going to a full 2JZ, just waiting on parts to come. I haven't even gotten the motor yet, but I stole a picture that Robert @ 935 motorsports took of it awhile ago.

p778166_1.jpg

also, on the motor, since these is already a hydrofan pump, I might as well go source a hydrofan setup, gave some folks a call, and for about $100 I'm going to be able to get the whole setup :) (pix will be posted once I get the parts)

this is the harness after I fixed a good portion of it and rewrapped a whole lot of nasty harness, still not completely done yet, but it's getting there. stay tuned

Im interested in your work on the harness. I have one that I would like to freshen up and replace old wires but just curious on how much of my time it will take or if it would just be worth it to purchase one from toyota.

you mean this?

The one beside it actually. The larger one is the CLT sensor for the ECU, which is the same on both motors. The smaller one is for the gauge. While the signals are the same, the sensor on the 2JZ has a different connector, and the two sensors are not interchangable. It's not a big deal.

The oil pressure sensors are different too, but they are interchangable.

What happened to the 1.5? Did you blow it up or just decide to change engines? If you've already said it, then I apologize.

He is trying to keep me company here in the Bay Area by dumping the 1jz and going full out 2jzgte. :)
