I make this post mainly because I saw the nice little warning about possibly getting booted due to a lack of posts
But it seriously would suck to lose access to a great base of 7mge knowledge. The main reason that I haven't really said anything is very simple. I don't own a supra. But here's what I do own.
It's a 77 Celica GT. Classic-Celica.com is down indefinitely at the moment, so I don't have access to any of my other pictures. The 7mge that's going in is only partly visible in the background.
When the car gets back on the road it will have
7mge
-head shaved 0.020"
-headers
-custom (catless) exhaust
-EGR blocked
-K&N filter
w58 conversion
ae86 LSD rear end (should've got a supra rear)
battery moved to rear
aluminum radiator
73 front bumper
MKII Supra "banana" wheels
Future mods include
-possibly cams
-A lot of suspension work
-Vented front brakes (either MKII supra or cressida)
I've been at this swap for longer than I care to admit, and have come to a standstill due to both fueling and wiring problems. Funny thing about the 7mge that I got was that when I was rebuilding it, I found where someone (presumably the last owner) etched on the plate behind the timing gears "This engine was run for 200 miles without coolant. Good Luck.", and it certainly showed. So that's been working against me a little as well.
One concern I have is keeping the front end weight down. Which leads me to a question for you guys. Which header is lighter, the OBX or the Pacesetter?
When everything is done, I think I'll have a quick, if not necessarily fast, car. Should be a little like a N/A MkIII minus about 1000lbs :icon_bigg
I'll probably continue to be a lurker, but do want to thank you guys for providing a great technical base!
