So, I knew immediately from looking at the top mounts where I was going to make the majority of my adjustments, and I'm also aware that the bottom latch can be manipulated as well.

Here's the question then: are the bumpers located on the side of the hatch (literally) used for adjustment of height or left/right? I only ask because the one side of the newer '91 replacement sits a little lower than the other side, so it made me think that there might be some adjustment available. Both the cushions on the bottom and the side pieces (to which I referred to) have been replaced just here within the last year or less.

I'd very much appreciate it as I'm likely going to try to mess with it some tomorrow in an effort to align it as close as possible to the old hatch.

I've replaced mine.

The major adjustment is at the hinges, Spend the time to get it right there, and the rest will be in place fairly well. I didn't adjust the bumpers at all for mine, did 90%+ at the hinges, though I had to move the striker a bit. (<2mm)

Since I had my bumpers well adjusted before, they didn't need any changes with the replacement hatch. (Replaced '89NA hatch no spoiler with '87T hatch with 1 piece spoiler.) Alignment is currently perfect.

Thanks a bunch, Dan. That was precisely the info I was looking for; however, I didn't move the bumpers just yet, but I figured I should ask just to see if they even do anything besides stabilize/prevent vibration/noise.

They move a bit up and down and side to side, but it doesn't matter much if all they do is stabilize.

Thanks for the insight, fellas. Looks like ill go for the hinges a bit and get it as close as possible and then move to the striker.
