The adjustable timing mechanism in the passenger side of the head is loose, and I have tried adjusting many different times to get the car running. I can get it to start and run for about a second before it completly shuts off.

Depending on where I adjust the base timing, I can get the initial fire to go higher in revs but still only lasts for a second or so.

Got close to getting her running till I noticed a water leak and a oil leak and called it quits for the night.

Thanks in advance!

Alex

That adjustable timing mechanism is the CPS or the Distributor. It shouldn't be loose.
Im too tired to explain how to set timing right now, but if you look it up on the online TSRM you'll have the car running in no time.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Also check that the big plug on the AFM is back in if you unplugged it to do the work.
I've done that before - once when I cleaned my air filter, and once when I installed my boost controller. I didn't know why in the hell my car was barely running, when just minutes before it was fine. When you double-check and find that, it makes you feel dumb.

I come from a land down under
DM: I've done it a few times when my car was dual fuel....

I'd run it on LPG for a full tank then when it ran out switch to Gas and wonder why it wouldn't do anything but idle ;)! DOH!

And yep I felt dumb!
(His symptoms sound a bit like that)

Ok well after following the TSRM to get the car set correctly, and maybe possibly having forgotten the stupid AFM plug I got her to run steady tonight.

HOWEVER, I seem to have a really bad oil leak coming off the bottom of the turbo. It seems that it maybe where the oil and coolant lines run down into the motor. I guess I will have to take the freaking turbo off again. ARG
