What's up guys, I'm new to this site. My name is Jake, and I live in Utah.

Anyways, I just picked up a 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo Targa for cheap. I've been wanting one for a very long time, so I'm so glad this one popped up. I had been saving money for a bullet bike, but I knew all along, if a good Supra came up I'd be getting it. I test drove a couple others that were in pretty bad shape, but I waited, and the right one came along.

Its Red, with Gray interior, and 91,3XX miles. It has a few small issues.
No radio
Passenger window switch doesn't work for rolling up passenger window
Missing lift-gate trim piece
Front lip is damaged
Dent on passenger side
Shift boot is ripped up
Hood and Lift-Gate Struts work when they feel like it
The Speedo might be saying I'm going faster than I am (But hey, at least it works haha)
Missing Fan Shroud (I cant seem to find one anywhere)

But my biggest 3 problems are,

My idle is all over the place, it will idle around 1500-2000 rpm for a while, and then it basically starts to slowly die, and I have to give it a little juice to keep it alive.

My passenger door won't open all the way, because it hits the fender.

And I think I have a small coolant leak from one of the coolant hoses.

All in all though, it runs pretty nicely, and I'm really liking it. If anybody has and idea on any of my problems, or knows where to find any of the parts I'm missing, let me know. Any other Opinions or whatever, go ahead and post it up.

Now for the good part. Pictures:

Oh an also, I have to lights on on the dash. One is on the left and looks like a trash can, and the other is in the middle, and looks like a car with something coming off it, and its next to the Door Ajar light (I think). Any Ideas?

Hey Jake, you can get the hood and hatch struts at Advanced Auto Parts, Autozone, or any car parts place. The hood ones are easy to replace, and they make it so much easier to work in the engine bay. The hatch ones are a pain to replace, you have to take out all of the interior pieces behind the front seats to get to the bolts. This is also a good time to replace the hatch speakers if yours are blown like mine were. Good Luck!

@Silver MK3: Cool cool thanks man. That sucks that I'm going to have to take out half the interior to replace those rear ones, but I've pulled an interior before so I shouldn't have to much trouble. And yeah I cant tell if my rear speakers are working, because I have no radio. Hahaha

The harderst part about taking the interior out is trying not to break or scratch any of the old plastic parts. My speakers were the original ones so the speaker cones were completly rotted away, so yours might be too. I replaced the radio in my Supra with this one, it looks stock, matches the green lighting, and fits right into our cars.

it's a PITA to get the rear hatch struts out, it sucks when you break the interior pieces. Hope the HG lasts, might as well replace that while your at it and torque them correctly.

Welcome to Supramania and Congratulations on your Supra purchase!

Looks like you're starting with a pretty solid car
(minus minor issues, but all can be fixed over time with patience, money and a little Supra love) ;)

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
@Supra NA-T: Yeah I dont think I'll be waiting very long to do the head gaskets. I wanted to put in an HKS metal head gasket and head studs, and since the HGs have never been replaced, it definitely near the top of my list of things to do.

@Silver MK3: That stereo looks very nice. Only issue is I gotta have a usb port to plug my iPhone into. And I found a new Alpine Unit with front usb port for only like $30 more. If only they could make the aftermarket ones look as good as the stock ones.

***And in other news, I just fixed the passenger door. Pulled the fender off, bent it back into shape, and threw it back on. It was a quick job so cosmetically, its still a little off, but at least now I can use my passenger door. Also, my alarm is working and in good condition. My sister came out to see the car and within the first 5 seconds of being within 20ft of it, she managed to set the alarm off. Some people I tell ya.

What about no patience, no money, and LOTS of Supra love? Haha Just kiddin man, yeah its really lookin like its gonna be a solid start to my build. I'm really glad I found it. I was about to spend my money on a bullet bike. I mean don't get me wrong, that would have been fun, but its no Supra.
