I'm pretty sure you're talking about the Lexus AFM...anyways...

You shouldn't recieve performance gains if you're just keeping stock boost and all. The whole point of the Lexus AFM is to allow you to boost more.

The Lex AFM allows 25% more airflow to bypass the sensor...it actually raises fuel cut as a result. It "fools" the ECU in to seeing less airflow than is actually occurring. Fuel cut is raised to the 16-18 psi level as seen on the boost (aftermarket) gauge.

When you raise the airflow like this, you need to add fuel...this is usually done with the addition of 550 injectors. Two other additions that support this mod is a high volume fuel pump and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. You will also have to remove the restriction on the "J" tube for the return to the gas tank.

The only way to accurately measure what's going on is with a wideband O2. The danger using a Lex AFM with stock injectors and no other supporting mods, is causing the mixture to go lean and causing detonation...that's a great way to burn up your pistons.

Do a search here on the Lex...it will keep you busy reading for a while ;)
