well i just picked up a 89 turbo supra from a friend for a good price and
There is a solid state resistor wired into two wires that went to the original maf sensor, this is what maks the car run at all. the other 4 wires for the original maf are just chilllin there not hooked to anything. at 2000-2500, depending on f it is warmed up or not, the computer thinks it need to cut the fuel(like a govenor/rev limiter), the remaining fuel in the engine will let it get to 2300-2700 before it runs out of fuel. revs come down, fuel kicks in, and you are running till you hit it again. it will still build 5-6psi boost and its trowing the maf code im not sure what i should do with the extra wires ill get pix of them and u can let me know what thay go to im not sure if its just those extra wires that r making it run like that and there r only 2 of the wires hooked up for the vpc so if anyone has a wireing diagram for it or has a right up on it any ideas will help

this is every thing done to it
HKS vein pressure converter conversion
SAFC neo
new 70 trim turbo
680cc injectors
XS Power large front-mount intercooler
full 3" exhaust
external wastegate
aftermarket BOV

thanks for looking and for all your help

The ECU will hit fuel cut right around then if it does not detect the AFM, which, since yours is cut it does not. Now, you say you have a resistor wired in so maybe your friend did that to try to eliminate the code from being thrown since he was using the VPC. Sounds like that was a dumb mistake.

I assume that your friend cut his wires and went with VPC because his AFM was broken. You should buy a used AFM from someone on this forum (post in the parts wanted section) and wire it in and run it with the VPC. With out an AFM signal the ECU will reset to some default values, you need a working AFM and tuning to get rid of the fuel cut.

You might want to try to see if the AFM you have works, but, it might be pretty FUBAR'd after Bubba got to it.

First of all, take that resistor out of the AFM wires. Reconnect those cut AFM wires. That should solve your problem rev limit problem, if not also make sure the AFM signal is connected on the SAFC and it's set to Karman airflow meter; if it's not set to Karman type, it'll rev limit you to around 3000 rpms. :biglaugh:

Excuse me. I need to go pour some bleach in my eyes now, as a futile attempt to erase the horror of what I just saw.

Seriously, get that butchered crap out of there if it looks like that.

seriously...

Previous owner left the front heat sheidl off the manifold, causing the heat to destroy all the wiring on that side...

$1K+ later with a new wiring harness, CPS, and sensors (got hot enough to cause them to crumble) it runs great.

I will NEVER hack a harness, I will make field harnesses or adapters...

I'd gladly pay 500 bucks for a new harness instead of dealing with the headaches of one that's hacked up.

Harness issues are dirty evil bitches.

Yeah, a new harness is spendy. Maybe you can get one from a wreck for cheaper, but you'd better make sure that the year and options match, or you're in for more issues. Not much fun.

BTW, another issue that can cause FCO at low RPM is iof the TPS is messed up. If the IDL and E2 pins are shorted, the TCCS will trigger FCO at about 2000-2500 RPM. (I don't remember the exact point, it was 2000 RPM on my '89NA engine, I haven't experimented with my current turbo engine.
