Just flew in a simulator...

I was lucky enough to have a hook up at one the simulators places here at DFW and just got back from flying a Citation I all around Dallas and Arlington. We buzzed towers, went between buildings in downtown Dallas and then buzzed Six Flags. Nearly hit a 777 head on while making an approach to DFW. I fly in a Citation jet (as a medic, not pilot) with my part time air ambulance job and this simulator felt so damn real I couldn't believe it. Below is a pic of the jet I fly in at work, it's just like the simulator we flew and the other is us fixing to fly inbetween buildings in downtown Dallas.

Seems like the last thing you would want to do when you got off work was go up in another damn plane!

I love planes and I was the pilot on this one! I can't tell you how much fun that was. These aren't no cheap ass simulators, John Travolta and Jimmy Buffet come to this place to do their simulator training, as well as pilots from all over the world. They mostly have General Aviation aircraft which means private jets like Gulfstream, Falcon, and I believe the very first Lear 25/35 simulator. I look to be doing this again soon, I hope.

The Citations are a nice line of jets. I got to look around in a Citation CJ2 last summer when some big wigs came to visit during my internship at Garmin (picture). More recently I went for a ride in a Super King Air B350 and there was a Citation X parked near our hanger. That is one hot plane.

I really want to get a decent simulator one of these days. Just something cheap that I can fly on my computer.

Considering the 500 is the butt of a lot of jokes for it's slowness it's ironic the X turned out to be the fastest in the world.

Fwiw early Citations are known to be the easiest of all bizjets to handle. Especially the 500. I still fly a Bravo model and Lear 35 part time for a former employer and there's a huge difference between the two. One is a hot rod while the other is like a big glider. I can understand why you enjoyed it though because a 500 was the first turbine airplane I ever flew. I still remember the first time bringing the power up with the brakes set. Almost like sex ;)

Hey Ken, about time they put some new paint on 7MA......

Haven't seen that old POS in a while. You should ask Bill if he will let ya fly the real thing, rumor has it more than one medic has flown that airplane:naughty:

Glad you had fun in the sim, it is pretty cool. I get to go in one every six months, and it is still fun even though all the bells and whistles are going off!!!

7MA got a new paint job after a pilot flew it through a hailstorm. It got damaged pretty bad. I was not onboard for that thank goodness. That picture was taken in Houston at what used to be Raytheon, now Hawker Beechcraft. There is dead man inside. He died at about 20k ft right after taking off from Hobby. Was suppposed to go to San Diego but didn't quite make it. I had to babysit that corpse for 4 hours waiting for the M.E. to show up. Hawker was nice enough to pull the plane inside their hangar since it was flooding outside.
POS? Compared to what you fly, yes:biglaugh:. Let's not talk about the 414.:nono:
I'm sure I know which medic was rumored to fly it. He and Ellen quit about the time you and Efe left.
The guy who let us fly only threw in some turbulence and an engine fire. We mostly had nice smooth sunny weather:icon_bigg
