I just boughth a black 89 n/a last night and it has a brown interior... I want to convert it to a black or grey interior, but I think it'll cost too much? I know I'll need a new dash, seats, carpet, etc.. so would it be cheaper if I sold this and bought one w/ a black or grey interior or just convert my current one?

Obviously I'll probably do it if someone can sell me all the parts cheap *hint hint*

cheap, possibly if you find a shell..

easy, nope...

well it is, but it's VERY time consuming..

my girl wants to convert her Supra's blue interior to a gray after seeing a gray interior in the junk yard, but after I pointed out every thing that needs to be changed, she said never mind...

Welcome to the forums, i would suggest dying the dash and interior panals and finding both front and back seats to put in :) its easyer and less stressful to find parts, and speaking of interior I have a complete set of front and back medium grey interior out of my black 89 thats forsale ;) PM me if interested :p...

Oh and the 89-90 black mica is an awesome color and was only made in two years so that makes it rare :)

I have parted out several wrecked MKIII's. In my experience, if you can find the parts, they shouldn't cost you all that much, except for the shipping. A junkyard would be somewhat cheap.

Send a PM to TooStand. His name is Mike, and he's got 10+ shells. He probably has a full set of what you need.

indeed as Scott said, shipping is the kicker, and + for Toostand as he is an awesome dude.

They sell vinyl dyes in spray cans, there's also flexible primer for just that thing..

As for cloth, once again they sell dyes and spray cans made just for that.

The thing is a lot of people like the rare tan/brown interior, if you can do without your car for a few, trade interiors with someone else. But make sure they have the same year or newer otherwise if you trade for a pre 89, your rear seatbels will need tweaking, same with a pair of rear speakers...

Ahh, ok, thanks.

Also, I'm thinking of converting to a 5-speed, exactly what parts would I need?

This is all I can think of so far, and I'm a noob, so please feel free to add more:

W58 Trans
5-speed ecu
W58 driveshaft?
Clutch master cylinder
Clutch pedal

Feel free to add more, as I'm sure I'll need allot more little things to complete the swap.

w58 flywheel
n/a clutch and pressure plate
Clutch master cylinder
clutch hard lines
slave cylinder
Clutch pedal
break pedal

I added a few more items to the list, and you dont need a 5psd ecu as it wont work on an auto harness but you can still do a 5spd swap and have no issues with an auto ecu and harness the only throw back is your reverse lights will no longer work.
