i stay away from all that. im more the DD of all the parties; i can see where it'd be fun, but seems like the consequences outweigh everything else.

Me too. I used to drink, I still do on occasion, but I have given it up for the most part. Too much to lose

im ALMOST convinced that most people who drink and drive, and in general drink heavily are depressed.

yes, they may even be depressed and not even realize it. it sounds strange, but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. they are using alcohol to distract them from whatever depression they may be feeling. they want to escape the way they feel every day (sober life) in order to escape their depression.

going out and drinking with your friends is a lot of fun, but if its the only thing you look forward to on the weekends, well then you may have some deeper issues.

my point? maybe people who get caught drinking and driving should be reffered to some type of treatment center to determine if they have some type of psychological issue that needs to be addressed.

just something ive been thinking about...

I never drive ever, ever, ever when under the influence of anything.

Sorry to say it, but i don't feel bad for your friend. Drink is good, driving is good. Drinking and driving together is not so good.

I don't feel bad for her. She has known that she can call me at any time & I'll come to get her, as well as any of my friends, but she didn't. I lost two very good friends years ago in an accident (caused by fatigue, not alcohol), I don't want to go through that again.

She knows that she screwed up, so I don't feel the need to berate her.
