Let me tell you....it sucks not having access to tools and having a BHG. I mustve broken at least 5 hoses today working on my car with my bare hands. I can get to a do it yourself shop on friday but till then, its my 2 hands doing all the work.....:nono:

Its a bitch dude. I promise you. You should wait it out til you can get to that shop. I did my engine rebuild with my bare hands and minimum tools, socket set, breaker bar, torque bar and engine stand and lift... all on the ground.. no lifts.... after working where I am now.. I dont think I could go back lol
Thats stupid. If you're really trying to rip everything apart, you'd be better off just having a shop do it so you don't have to buy all new hoses and other misc things you destroy. Nice first post...
yea ur totally right. instead of me learning about my first mk3 first hand, im gonna be one of those people that just whips out a checkbook and sends his car to shops so they can do all the work. then ima take credit for a car which i took no part in building except for picking out certain parts solely on the basis that they look cool......

instead of paying someone to do it, why not just go out and buy some half decent tools, and spend some time with the TSRM and doing your research on supramania. Do it right the first time. Its the best way to learn your car.... And take your time!!!
I think what GT was trying to say is, it's better to do it right. That way you learn it right. I would be very careful if I were you. (not saying your not) But you may end up breaking something that is very expensive. (wire harness) Welcome to SM. I would've told you to buy tools, but the only options you made clear in your post were to either A. rip the motor apart with your hands, or B. take it to a shop on Friday. If you want to learn on your own, get some tools... you're not going to get very far at all with your hands, and thats hardly what I would call a learning experience.

the DIY shop opens tomorrow at 12 noon. for today at least i got some tools so i can get some more of it done. i bought a manual for it yesterday too.
