this may sound like a dumb question, but i did try searching and i didn't find what i was looking for...

i know the internal wastegate actuator on the stock ct-26 has a nipple that feeds back into the turbo, but on my JT61GT, there's is no vacuum feed to go back into the turbo. would i just need to hook that to a good vacuum source or would i have to add a nipple on the IC piping and attach it to that? i have some pics as well.

would something like this work? i was gonna use this for the BOV but i'm wondering what else could i hook it up to if i just needed a good vacuum source?

thanks everyone!

you dont want that to be hooked to vaccum.... it should go from the wg (and on my jt61gt at least) i have a 90 degree nipple on the compressor cover that it is hooked to. remember that the wg needs to see postive boost to begin opening or it will remain shut.

the nipple you are referring to near the 3000 pipe is good to use for a BOV

^ Correct. Nipple can be any where after the turbo, but BEFORE THE ENTRANCE of the intercooler.

Incorrect. Wastegate can take a pressure source from three locations: before intercooler, after intercooler but before throttle body, or after throttle body.

Depending on where you take the reference source will determine wether the system accounts for pressure drop in the intake piping/intercooler or not.

Hold your tongue kind sir. The OP asked an elementary question, therefore he received an elementary answer.

This is correct. I have seen, on many accounts, odd and unaccountable wastegate problems due to the fact that the signal port, or "nipple" was not before the throttle body, AND intercooler.

Would you care to contradict me further?

I come from a land down under
In the past if I stuck with a certain PSI actuator I'd plumb it to the Intake to take advantage of the pressure drop across the IC to "fool" the actuator into giving me an extra psi or two.

Downside to this is it usually adds length to the signal line and will cause a bit of creep.

EDIT: IJ said everything I needed too. But if you want to explain how the location of the reference line will effect the wastegate operation in any way other then potential creep, I'll gladly store it in the book of things learned on the internet.

sooooo, would i have to custom make something to hook it up or is there a location on the car i can use? where would you put it?

...i feel retarded:cry:

You're not retarded. Retarded would be putting a wastegate signal port in your exhaust.

The "correct" answer, so that you don't see boost creep or spike - see below.

ive drilled the outlet on the compressor housing and put nipple there. ran a hose from the nipple to the wastegate.

I just had to do this with my turbo, I asked this same question as well. If you have an ACE parts store, go there and tell them you need everything for a 1/8" NPT hose barb fitting. You'll just need a drill bit, 1/8" tap and the fitting and walla you're done. You can do it with the turbo in the car.

What I did was put a small rag in the compressor housing and disconnected the lower IC pip and started drilling. Then as I started to tap make sure you use a little bearing grease $3 from any auto parts store, this will catch almost all the shavings that you are tapping out. Get some pipe tape or whatever it's called and install the fitting and you're done!!

alright i think i'll do that. hmm the only thing i wonder is since it was made without the nipple on the compressor housing, i wonder where it was designed to go?

i have an ACE like 2 minutes from my house =)

thanks again guys!
